identifier for musical works, adopted as international standard ISO 15707
Description | The International Standard Musical Work Code is a unique identifier for musical works. It is adopted as international standard ISO 15707. The ISO subcommittee with responsibility for the standard is TC 46/SC 9. Each item in the registry has an ID which is accessible via this page and through other online resources. The authority also provides a unique IPI code directly "binded" to authors, composer, and other subject. These two codes could be extremely useful during an Authority control process. | ||||||||||||

ISWC format edit
@Epìdosis: this should be stored in database format:
- T0000000010 - database format / most compact format
- T-000000001-0 - check digit and prefix separated / medium compact format
- T-000.000.001-0 - optimized for readability by human eyes / least compact format

- I'm unsure, I've never used this ID and it's onestly beyond my sphere of interest. I reported it in Wikidata talk:WikiProject Music#ISWC format. --Epìdosis 15:38, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
- IMO it's more important that the format is consistent than if it contains spacing characters or not. According to Wikidata:Database_reports/Constraint_violations/P1827#"Format"_violations there are currently 63 items with format issues. Infrastruktur (talk) 15:47, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
- If it contains no spaces it is consistent not only within WD but with other professional databases. CV213 (talk) 18:07, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
