Value type “measurement scale (Q1370617): This property should use items as value that contain property “instance of (P31), subclass of (P279)”. On these, the value for instance of (P31), subclass of (P279) should be an item that uses subclass of (P279) with value measurement scale (Q1370617) (or a subclass thereof). (Help)

Inverse of measured physical quantity (P111)? edit

Should this property be used for statements like quantity > measured in > unit? For instance: electric current (Q29996)measurement scale (P1880)ampere (Q25272). I've seen some use of it and added some myself, but wanted to check whether this is actually appropriate. Toni 001 (talk) 12:18, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

After some consideration - and trying to find labels and descriptions that fit for both "scales" and "units" - I now think that it would be best to have a separate property to link quantities to units. Proposed here. Toni 001 (talk) 14:56, 22 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
For units of measurement, use the following property: recommended unit of measurement (P8111) Toni 001 (talk) 11:24, 10 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
I don't see problems in such using. And P8111 seems redundant now. --Infovarius (talk) 03:22, 12 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
The whole point of proposing a different property for connecting quantities to units (now P8111) was that a measurement scale and a measurement unit are not the same kind of thing (but this difference is sometimes neglected or ignored). With P8111 we now have a well-scoped property. An example: Thermodynamic temperature is measured in kelvin (a unit) and measured by the ITS-90 (a temperature scale).
