Member of vs. Instance of? edit

This property suggests that geoparks should use member of (P463) set to Global Geoparks Network (Q2411651). Yet it seems many instead use that item for instance of (P31), while there's also UNESCO Global Geopark (Q53444003) which could be used for that. Should we use both redundant ways of encoding the fact that a geopark is a UNESCO geopark? Ahoerstemeier (talk) 10:49, 28 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Update formatter URL edit

As proposed here, the formatter URL should be updated and the current values for this property should be edited to work with the new URL.

This may break eventual external usages for this property, but in the aforementioned thread no one seemed to care about this. --Horcrux (talk) 12:00, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not sure if the outcome from the discussion is actually that.
The formatter URL should be retired if it no longer works.
Replacing a numeric value of an identifier scheme in a given property with a numeric identifier from another scheme in the same property isn't a good idea. --- Jura 12:39, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Jura1: As you proposed this property, I think you agree on its usefulness. If we can't modify the formatter URL and we can't create a new property, how can we provide an up-to-date information about Global Geoparks Network (Q2411651)'s info pages? --Horcrux (talk) 14:15, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oh, didn't recall that. As noted in the new discussion, P2467 didn't end up being used that much.
The other alternative mentioned there seems correct: use described at URL (P973) instead. If it ends up being used much, we could revisit the question. --- Jura 14:22, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Jura1: The property "didn't end up being used that much" because Global Geoparks Network (Q2411651)' membership itself is limited (currently all the 132 possible values are present on Wikidata), but this was true even in the moment that you proposed it for creation. --Horcrux (talk) 15:03, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Return to "P2467" page.
