ID pattern

I am importing the official dataset into Mix'n'match at the moment. The "official" IDs do not appear to contain dashes, and the IDs still work in the URL. I suggest we use them as they are in the official document (without dashes). --Magnus Manske (talk) 10:36, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

As of November 2022 this seems broken

Apologies if I am using incorrect terminology or have other mistakes in this problem description. Values relating to Irish Sites and Monuments Record ID (P4057) such as "LE014-004001-" and "CW007-010----" seem to have been intended to use formatter URL (P1630) to form an URL to point to "http://webgis.archaeology.ie/historicenvironment/?SMRS=$1" e.g. "http://webgis.archaeology.ie/historicenvironment/?SMRS=CW007-010----". However that URL seems to get immediately redirected to https://maps.archaeology.ie/HistoricEnvironment/ which may take you to what you were last looking at there but is on minminal use locate the object of intestest, though if one finds it one can get the relevant associated information. This came up at NLI photo of the day now at Commons:File:Goat Castle and Queen's Hotel, Dalkey.jpg, associated with Dalkey Castle (Q30970161) & Irish Sites and Monuments Record ID "DU023-023010-". The fix may be simples, but I haven't spotted it. The following URLs may hold some clues somewhere ... I can add a little mode information I have worked out on this. From the Historic Environment Viewer clicking the "query data" icon (A sort of torch pointing upwards / oil funnel thingy) on the menu bar, the leftmost icon on the right icon group. This brings up a "query data" dialog box. At the bottom of that box is a place for a "Search by Record Number" where the Irish Sites and Monuments Record ID (P4057) aka SMR ID value can be placed and searched for. The result is an map is recentred on the object of interest and a downloadable record diplayed in a replaced "Quary Data" box. Pressing in that box produces a pop-up with useful information which is what I wanted. In the case of SMR ID "DU023-023010-" for Dalkey Castle that is the end of the road but following through "CW007-010----" is more interesting. That object has han attachements icon, and cliking on that also pops-up an attachements box with tow (jpb) attachments. Clinking on the first of this open a pciture in a new tab. [7]. Then if that url is truncate I observe a can get a really useful llink to Feature (ID: 32052). @Deirge Ó Dhaoinebeaga This should be working now e.g. CW007-010----. I had to do a bit of digging: there isn't any change to the URLs on the viewer site when running a query, and doesn't seem to be anything publicly shown on the site. But the documentation for the underlying software showed how to pass a query in, and then it was just a case of figuring out the layer and field name required. the wub "?!" 23:04, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

@the wub:: Thanks, good progress, in fact excellent help and thanks for digging.. I think I agree this works for CW007-010---- and Dalkey graveslab DU023-023020- and Dalkey Castle Tower: DU023-023010- however when I click the link in Dalkey Castle (Q30970161) DU023-023010- it doesn't seem to be working for me and is pointing to the old URL ("webgis.archaeology.ie/historicenvironment/?SMRS=DU023-023010-") rather than the new one. @the wub: Superb job. thanks for taking the time to look at this. This only reason I pinged you was I thought you might know a good contact for this stuff but you've done a brilliant job yourself! Would/could I have sorted this out myself in a week? Possibly yes but even more possibly not. There is a discussion of how starting off from a commons picture or commons category one gets to that (via the structured data tab?) but that's a discussion for a meetup.
