    Constraints edit

I've removed the distinct-values constraint - this property is used so widely that it doesn't make sense to try and impose this. Eg/ there are 258 things with "FF0000" (plain red) as the value - 165+ political parties, 50+ railway lines, and a wide range of other things. (For some reason, red is by far the most popular - there are 134 white, 108 black, and 89 blue...)

Of the total uses of this property, a little over 50% use a value that is also used in at least one other item, and a little over a quarter have a value that is used by ten or more different items.

It's probably true that in a particular context at a particular time (eg "current Canadian political parties"), there won't be two things with exactly the same colour, but I don't think we can describe something so nuanced in a constraint. Andrew Gray (talk) 14:53, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

    Incomprehensbile property examples edit

Three out of four current example statements are quite incomprehensible if not just meaningless. For aquamarine P465=7FFFD4 makes sense. But P465 statements for a company (Q338572) and a party (Q304191) make little sense as these subjects are not colours. If the statement is perhpas for official colours of an organization then the property label should explicitly say so. If these statements are about official color then I think more meaningful alternative is to use official color (P6364) with P465 as a qualifer. In case of a geological era (Q75507) it's even hard to guess what the subject has got to do with given colour. A little investigation reveals that this is an arbitrary colour representing the subject in a certain publication (Q63463770). As this geological era item has P361[part_of]=Q63463770 statement then to make things clearer possibly this statement could have P465 qualifier instead of current standalone P465 statement. 2001:7D0:81FD:BC80:B53E:F226:611F:52F5 09:12, 4 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
