userscript to easily add the property from wikia edit

I have written a small userscript, which makes it easy to add Fandom article ID (P6262) with two clicks.

Installation edit

  1. Install tampermonkey
  2. open wikia-data.user.js in your browser
  3. click install

Usage edit

Connect any Wikia-Page with a Wikidata Item edit

  1. log in your user on quickstatements
  2. open a wikia article that is not yet subject of the statement Fandom article ID (P6262)
    You will see a block in the right sidebar titled connect to wikidata
  3. it will search title of the page in wikidata. if necessary change the title in the textfield.
  4. you might be prompted to allow the script to access wikidata which you need to allow.
  5. select the matching item
    don't worry. nothing will happen instantly. you will be redirected to quickstatements where you have to confirm your edits.


Create Statements from Wikia edit

once a wikia article is associated with a Q-id (and the cache is cleared), you will be able to add statements to other connected Q-id in that article.

Mandatory title qualifier? edit

Hi,

Not sure I understand why title is a mandatory qualifier? Is this the role intended for subject named as (P1810)? Either way, I don’t think this should be mandatory − especially as the title is in the ID itself.

Yeah, let's discuss about that. So, recently, I also noticed that you intentionally adding to many properties (including this one) mandatory qualifier constraints without any good reason. I have already counted several dozen of these properties. In my opinion, it has become a kind of your obsession to add many mandatory qualifier constraints, which in most of cases are unnecessary at all. The big problem here is that most of all these mandatory and also statement constraints have been added without any consensus or discussion (see a few of examples ... [1][2],[3],[4],[5],[6],[7],[8],[9],[10],[11], [12],[13],[14],[15],[16],[17]). Can you please explain why you adding such unreasonable number of mandatory qualifier and statement constraints for one single property? What are they all needed for? Do you really think that someone would be able to add all these required qualifiers manually? If not, then can you personally add all of them manually? Don't you think that you are abusing when you adding all these required constraints?
Anyways, as you can see, there are other users who do not agree with your edits (same problem here), so, I suggest you to stop adding this mandatory qualifiers until consensus is reached, otherwise, we can discuss about your edits in the project chat or here, since it seems unconstructive such a massive addition of mandatory qualifier and statement constraints without any consensus or discussion ...

I like them because it shows what types of informaion that can be gotten from the websites and i like the qualifier constraints because it helps standardizing what qualifiers to be used for a certain property both which some users likely find to be helpful.
t's not easy to find someone to discuss it with. In many cases the talk page have pretty much been abandoned.

Fandom ≠ Wikia edit

Back then we assumed that Wikia was simply being renamed to Fandom. For the most part, that was true. In actuality most wikia wikis have been moved to fandom while others remained where they were. for instance greekmythology.wikia.org. ---Shisma (talk) 16:40, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

How to find the MediaWiki page ID edit

The MediaWiki page ID (P9675) is a numeric identifier that you can add as a qualifier to a Fandom ID. To get the page ID of a Fandom article, add ?action=info after the article name in the URL, then load the link in your browser.

Example:

As of this writing, the page ID is in the fourth row of the "Basic information" section (the first table on the page). Optionally, you can tell your browser to jump to the "Basic information" section by adding #Basic_information to the end of the URL:

Inaccuracy of Fandom pages edit

Is it still opportune to keep such property? Fandom is an user-generated-content site, largely unaccurate and unsourced.
