Type “astronomical object (Q6999), astronomical phenomenon (Q751989): item must contain property “instance of (P31)” with classes “astronomical object (Q6999), astronomical phenomenon (Q751989)” or their subclasses (defined using subclass of (P279)). (Help)

Value type “physical location (Q17334923), astronomical observatory (Q1254933): This property should use items as value that contain property “instance of (P31)”. On these, the value for instance of (P31) should be an item that uses subclass of (P279) with value physical location (Q17334923), astronomical observatory (Q1254933) (or a subclass thereof). (Help)

Clarification edit

should be merged with Property:P189? JAn Dudík (talk) 20:26, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

if I have understood correctly, there is a bit difference with Property:P189: Property:P65 means where the discoverer is (e.g. observatory, satellite...), not where the discovered object is. --Paperoastro (talk) 21:50, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Value type constraint edit

According to the property’s constraints, the value should be of physical location (Q17334923). However, astronomical observatory (Q1254933)—which looks like quite an obvious choice for places where astronomical discoveries are made—is not a subclass of physical location (Q17334923). Actually, based on a rough estimation, this probably accounts for more than 90% of the currently 33797 violations of this constraint (this is more than the half of the total usage!). This should certainly be fixed somehow as astronomical observatories are perfectly valid places of discoveries, but I’m not sure how: should the constraint be relaxed (geographic entity (Q27096213) would fit), or should astronomical observatory (Q1254933)’s class tree be changed somehow? If the latter, how? —Tacsipacsi (talk) 21:53, 6 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
