Description	The person who dubbed a role in the TV. e.g. Japanese dubber US TV/Film, English dubber for Anime, etc. Also used for radio dramas. Qualify with character role (P453) to refer to the item representing the character, if one exists.

statement syntax

I don't think it will work for dubs this way. For example, in Hungary four dubs have been produced for Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (Q181795), one even having another modified version. Also in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Q127367) the dub actors have spoken Elvish, Dwarvish and Black Speech lines along with the Hungarian, but to take a non-fantasy example in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (Q14488725) the dub actors have German, Russian, and Italian lines along with the Hungarian. There may be different dubs for different territories in the same language. So what I propose is along the lines what's been said on Property talk:P1476, we should create items for each dub, and use this property on those items with cast member (P161) as qualifier. Those items would also have all adequate data on the dubs in them (like country of origin (P495), language of work or name (P407), director (P57), sound editor, translator (P655), commissioned by (P88) production company (P272), inception (P571), spoken title, etc.). And of course, we'd need properties to link them to the film item and vice versa. For non-dub uses it's the same as cast member (P161). – Máté (talk) 16:01, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

I'm not really convinced either. What might work is a separate item for each dubbing with this property that would link to the same characters as the film item.

For animated films, characters might need to be properties instead of qualifiers. As I rarely edit the animated films, I haven't given it much thought though.

I haven't actually read your dense comment that thoroughly (done). The difference seems to be that you would link the cast and not the characters. What do you include in "non-dub uses"? Animated films or just audio only?

Animated films too. So anything that's original and not localisation. Yeah, I wasn't clear on that one, sorry. Whether we should use character or actor is a hard one, but most characters don't have an item (yet?), and there are cases when multiple actors are playing the same character with different dub actors voicing them. (On the other hand, there may be cases when an actor is playing multiple characters voiced by multiple dub actors. Nothing comes to mind now, but it's possible.) I'm fine with your proposal for the dubbing of non-animated films (linking cast). For animated films, it seems that characters are listed directly as statements and voice actors repeat those characters as qualifiers (Simpsons sample above). I'd tend to move those to a separate item per language as well. .. I will have at the P1476 question eventually.

Original voice actor

The original proposal seems to have been a bit ambiguous on this issue: Should the property be used for the original version's voice actors? For example, should Dumbo (Q40895) use voice actor (P725) instead of the currently used cast member (P161)? --Yair rand (talk) 05:15, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Radio dramas

Before TV series and video games there where voice actors in radio dramas. Imho we should use this property for these actors as well. (Descriptions and labels in some languages indicates this property is only for films.) --Kolja21 (talk) 13:31, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Seiyū (Japanese voice actors)

Here is something I have noticed when adding voice actors for Japanese series. Adding any person with seiyū as an occupation, but not voice actor as a voice actor results in the series being added to the constraint violations list. The current restrictions for this property don't recognize seiyū as voice actors. Could that be altered in some way?
