World Heritage Site ID
the identifier for a site as assigned by UNESCO. Use on one item per site, link parts with property "has part" (P527)
Descriptionthe reference given to the site by UNESCO. Applies to World Heritage Sites only.
There should be just one item with the identifier. The main parts of the site that have different items can be linked with the property has part(s) (P527). The parts can link back to the World Heritage Site item with the property "part of". For sites with multiple locations, the sub-sites can include their serial id number, but shouldn't repeat the main identifier.

Number of World Heritage Sites edit

As of 2013, there are a total of 981 World Heritage Sites. So eventually, https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Q9259 should cover 981 sites. Michiel1972 (talk) 09:15, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

item requires statement constraint edit

when entering a World Heritage Site ID, it is indicated that:

  1. An entity with World Heritage Site ID should also have a statement coordinate location.
  2. An entity with World Heritage Site ID should also have a statement located in the administrative territorial entity.

I do not think this is helpful. A World Heritage Site may be composed of different elements having different coordinate locations and being located in different administrative territorial entities, even different countries. Coordinate location and administrative territorial entity should then be indicated in the items for the different elements, not in the item of the entire World Heritage Site. --Bjs (talk) 20:40, 1 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I now removed both. There are so many serial world heritage sites located in different administrative territorial entities so that this should not be a required item. State is different and still useful, because the WHC itself associates the world heritage sites with states. --Bjs (talk) 13:19, 22 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Distinct values constraint (Q21502410) edit

Removed that property because one UNESCO ID can represent more than one thing, that happens with Macau, for example, several buildings are listed in UNESCO but only one ID "Historical Centre of Macau". Dioluisf (talk) 19:16, 30 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I don't agree; I think we should have an item for the UNESCO site and the ID should go only there; other items, connected to the item of the UNESCO site through part of (P361), should not have the ID. --Epìdosis 15:02, 27 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
