    Tool and Mix'n Match edit

    Here's a look for ISIN lookup https://tools.wmflabs.org/isin/?language=de&isin=

It could be an interesting candidate for mix und match --Teolemon (talk) 16:04, 5 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

    Identifier edit

Why is this string type, not external identifier? --Vanuan (talk) 19:57, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

    See Wikidata:Identifier migration/0. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 19:58, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
This only explains why the property was not converted in the first place but the linked discussion shows support by now. -- JakobVoss (talk) 21:44, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
It says ISIN (P946) Disputed by Multichill at Wikidata:Project_chat/Archive/2016/02#upcoming_deployments.2Ffeatures - but on that page the strings 946 or ISIN do not appear. MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 16:51, 5 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Nikki: 2016-02-16 you moved it and claimed disputed by Multichill [1] - where did he? MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 18:11, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Finally, on that page it says:
I object to any properties in this list being converted. Probably only properties which are instance of Wikidata property for an identifier (Q19847637) or subclasses should be converted. All other properties should be looked at before thinking about converting. Multichill (talk) 22:49, 2 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
The list is generated by Whatlinkshere, the item is "Wikidata property for a multi-source identifier (Q21264328)":
    • 2015-10-28 15:19 created by Jura1, description "property for external ID (a) with single/several issuers; (b) within/without single scheme; (c) available at single/separate places. Unique or not. May combine several. Not IDs with single issuer within single scheme available at single place."
    • 2015-10-28 16:04 added to ISIN property [2]
    • 2017-11-10 13:00 removed by JakobVoss, 13:02 reverted by Jura1 [3]
    The description looks like en:WP:OR.
The only other ISO IDs currently listed there are ISBN-13 (converted 2016-04-06) and ISIL (converted 2020-04-28), each converted to external-id. MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 18:22, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

    User:ArthurPSmith, why is this still not converted? 92.226.210.192 14:04, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Despite my name on the header there, I believe somebody else moved ISIN into that section with the ambiguous reference to Multichill. No idea what the hold-up is, I don't know much about this property. ArthurPSmith (talk) 14:40, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@ArthurPSmith, Epìdosis, JakobVoss, Vanuan: can this be fast-track converted. Currently it sorts somewhere and not in section Identifiers. MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 03:01, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Support clearly to be converted. --Epìdosis 06:50, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
      Support MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 16:46, 5 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Pigsonthewing: you seem to be involved with ISNI, any opinion on ISIN? MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 02:14, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Support conversion. It beggars belief that it has taken over three an half years, on the basis of a vague and unsubstantiated objection, for this obviously-appropriate conversion to be done. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:01, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Andrew Gray: you just posted on ISNI, and about ISBN. Any opinion here? MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 13:16, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Epìdosis: can this be processed? See above where I documented the reasons for not converting in 2016: "I object to any properties in this list being converted. Probably only properties which are instance of Wikidata property for an identifier (Q19847637) or subclasses should be converted." - No explicit objection regarding ISIN, precedence, since other ISO IDs in the list now converted and last but not least, the second sentence even takes out ISIN, since ISIN was
    and currently is
    • Wikidata property for an international standard identifier
    • Wikidata property for a multi-source identifier
    • Wikidata property for an identifier having a checksum
Section MediaWiki:Wikibase-SortedProperties#ISO IDs is almost finished with regard to collecting all ISO IDs. MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 00:36, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Pigsonthewing: since 2020-06-08 at Wikidata:Contact the development team#Conversion to external-id (June 8), after a request postponing processing and in light of the 3 weeks the batch in May took, I mentioned the importance of ISIN 2020-06-09 and now added an explicit request to User:Lea Lacroix (WMDE) to process ISIN exceptionally on fast track. MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 17:22, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Lydia Pintscher (WMDE): could ISIN be done fast track, there is MediaWiki:Wikibase-SortedProperties#ISO IDs sorting ISO IDs on top in the external-id section on item pages. ISIN it is missing there. MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 17:29, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Create constraint for domain of this property to be an instance of Stock Exchange Q11691 edit

The nature of this property specifies, that it is applied only to securities, so I suggest making a constraint for it, that would raise a warning, if it is applied to a company, whereas it should be applied only as a qualifier for the value of Stock Exchange P414, as long as it is used to denote where do a company's securities are traded at, with their ticker respectively. Attaching ISIN to a company does not seem correct. I'd like to hear more opinions on that. --Automotom (talk) 11:06, 9 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Should be moved to separate items. CV213 (talk) 23:47, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
