Offical site edit

I removed official site https://www.netflix.com/title/81078819, because the link is empty and anyway it takes to a site which needs a registration (and also to pay), and it's against Wiki policy. -- L'Ospite Inatteso - I love to love you 06:19, 13 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@L'Ospite Inatteso: Official sites can be empty. Official sites can ask you to register. Official sites can require payment. None of that makes it not-official. Please show me the wiki policy you are referencing. Grazie. —Justin (koavf)TCM 19:43, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Koavf: We have this rules on italian Wikipedia: [1] which advise against sites which need a registration. The same thing on english Wikipedia: [2] ("external links to websites that require registration or a paid subscription to view should be avoided because they are of limited use to most readers") and I suppose on every wikipedia. -- L'Ospite Inatteso - I love to love you 19:52, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Koavf: is not enough to you to remove the link? To me is it. -- L'Ospite Inatteso - I love to love you 07:07, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@L'Ospite Inatteso: It is better if they do not have these requirements but sometimes, sites do have them. If an official website requires registration or a subscription, it's still the official website. —Justin (koavf)TCM 08:37, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Koavf: I know, but it's against policy to us it. -- L'Ospite Inatteso - I love to love you 08:55, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Koavf: You Say: "If an official website requires registration or a subscription, it's still the official website", this is true, but there is a fundamental error in what you say: the Netflix link cannot be considered an official site. An official site is an external site specifically dedicated to a certain topic, in which you can find supplementary cards that talk about it and maybe the official gadget shop or other things solely dedicated to the topic, not for sure a streaming site where you can only watch a movie and nothing else.
The confirmation to what I say is also present on Wikidata: there is the identifier Netflix, obviously separate from the official site, if Netflix were considered usable as an official site then why also create the Netflix identifier? [This Is the official site of El Camino https://www.elcaminobreakingbadmovie.com/] and it has already been correctly inserted, the link to watch the film on Netflix is to be removed because it IS NOT the official site.
Sorry for my poor english, but unfortunately I don't know how to write very well in this language.--Baris (talk) 10:39, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Right @Baris:. Then @Koavf: we have netlix page which has been already added to the proper identifier and the official site. Adding another link to Netflix page in the official site identifier is a duplicate too and so it's double wrong. Now I removed, hoping finally. -- L'Ospite Inatteso - I love to love you 13:24, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @Baris: Your English is fine--thanks for accommodating me. There are many "official sites" that are landing pages of a specific topic instead of an actual website devoted to the topic. See instances of official website (P856). Many Netflix original films don't have domain names registered for them: the only place to get information from an official source is Netflix's website. @L'Ospite Inatteso: This is fine for this instance but what about other Netflix films that don't have their own independent website? —Justin (koavf)TCM 16:39, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

In my opinion, if a film, a television series or anything else does not have an official "external" website, this simply does not insert. For example, if an actor or a film that is not present on Netflix or in other on demand services does not have an official website, what do you do, do you insert as official website the page of the imdb or other online database? Obviously not, nothing is put, because there is no official website and a simple link to a legal streaming site where you can only watch the film can't be considered in any way an official site.
This is my thought, but maybe I ignore some Wikidata directive, which I use very little, if it were so I will adapt to these directives of course.--Baris (talk) 18:40, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
