Template:Uw-lowercase
Hello, I'm Example. In case you didn't know, descriptions begin with a lowercase letter except when uppercase would normally be required or expected. Essentially, you should pretend that the description is appearing in the middle of a normal sentence, and then follow normal language rules. Most terms would not be capitalized if they appeared in the middle of a sentence. However terms such as proper nouns (e.g. the names of specific people, specific places, and specific titles) should be capitalized. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! ~~~~
This template should always be substituted – use {{subst:Uw-lowercase}} |
Usage edit
Note that this template has to be substituted, so use it in the form of {{subst:Uw-lowercase}}
. The template automatically adds {{subst:Welcome}} and a month-year header (i.e.
"April 2024"), if the edit that adds it is the edit that creates the user's talk page. To opt out of this feature, add a welcome=no
parameter.
This template can be used to warn users who capitalize descriptions that should begin with lowercase letters. For more information, see Help:Description#Capitalization.
