I'm trying to understand what mistake was done. If I take 2007 UCI Road World Championships (Q36854) as an example, it's an event in the series of UCI Road World Championships (Q506424), ie. "edition" or "season" of it. So sports season of league or competition (P3450): UCI Road World Championships (Q506424) fits there and both 2006 UCI Road World Championships (Q698491) and 2008 UCI Road World Championships (Q36969) are the next and previous events in the series.

Here, the problem is probably not in the chain, but in determining the season, tournament, championship.

World Cycling Championship. The title is played in one race during the day. Season can last one day? Or the World Cup - we do not say that the team became the winner in this season

I say as GAN that a world championship is not a season. In cycling a season = year, nothing more. It is an edition, that we agree. But a season is not an edition. Please revert all those changes, all those races are now badly displayed on several Wikipedia. And no P3450 is not correct as it is not a season.
"season" here actually is another word for "edition". Anyway, before reverting I have to warn you that eventually another user may attempt to clean up this again. Reverting also means that you would rely on values of P31 which again may break as the classification on Wikidata may evolve, that's why there is P3450. So wouldn't it be more advantageous to look into fixing the "article card" (it took me a while to understand what it means), as I did when I was notified on my wiki?
I just don't get why the items for cycling have to evolve because of some "evolution" decided from someone who has no link to cycling. Can you show us where is the guideline/decision to use P3450?
