About Me edit

I'm a cataloguing and metadata librarian from Canada interested in linked data. I'm exploring Wikidata while I wait for the arrival of BIBFRAME (Q17050075).

My favourite books include J. L. Carr (Q2002314)'s A Month in the Country (Q4003924), Alice Munro (Q234819)'s Lives of Girls and Women (Q6658707), and Evelyn Waugh (Q107002)'s Brideshead Revisited (Q6992413). Other authors I enjoy include Mikhail Bulgakov (Q835), C. S. Lewis (Q9204), Kurt Vonnegut (Q49074), and Ernest Hemingway (Q23434).

Literary Projects edit

In January 2019, I added items and bibliographic data for every short story in Alice Munro (Q234819)'s bibliography.

In February 2019, I added award received (P166) statements with point in time (P585) and for work (P1686) qualifiers for recipients of the Scotiabank Giller Prize (Q1328335) and Governor General's Award for English-language fiction (Q3405805).

In April 2019, I added first line (P1922) and last line (P3132) statements for all 154 of Shakespeare's sonnets (Q662550), as well as series ordinal (P1545) statements.

Sports Projects edit

In January 2019, I added award received (P166) statements with point in time (P585) qualifiers for recipients of (current to the 2017/18 NHL season): the Hart Memorial Trophy (Q678383); the Art Ross Trophy (Q705707); the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (Q795029); the Calder Memorial Trophy (Q726480); the Conn Smythe Trophy (Q176834); the Frank J. Selke Trophy (Q785207); the James Norris Memorial Trophy (Q752423); the King Clancy Memorial Trophy (Q250753); the Mark Messier Leadership Award (Q1550433); the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy (Q826079); the Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award (Q748288); the Vezina Trophy (Q221401); the Jack Adams Award (Q757037); the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl (Q922116); the Presidents' Trophy (Q250246); the Prince of Wales Trophy (Q1133502); the NHL Foundation Player Award (Q1789265); the William M. Jennings Trophy (Q508631); the NHL General Manager of the Year Award (Q1572029); the Lester B. Pearson Award (Q60560976); the Ted Lindsay Award (Q832447).

In March 2019, I filled in missing Hockey-Reference.com player ID (P3598) statements for ~4200 NHL players. I also filled in missing league (P118) statements for ~6200 NHL players.

In early 2019, I submitted a successful property proposals for:

As of July 2019, I have uploaded statistics for these categories on the pages of all NHL players. As of the time of writing, active players have statistics current as of the conclusion of the 2018/2019 NHL season. If I've missed something, let me know.

I submitted two other property proposals which ultimately went unresolved:

Library Projects edit

In January 2020, I lead a small #1Lib1Ref campaign for Memorial University Libraries: stats here

In February 2020, I took part in the Finding GLAMs challenge and created items with geographical coordinates for every branch of the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries (Q85509698), in addition to adding missing data for other Canadian libraries. I came in third place and won a great Wikipedia mug with dinosaurs on it.

In June 2021, in the wake of the discovery of unmarked graves at residential schools in Canada, I noted that most residential schools had no items in Wikidata, and the thirty or so that did had poor data. I uploaded data from Orlandini's Residential School Locations Dataset to create items for residential schools as well as fill out geographical, chronological, and religious affiliation data.
