This user account is a bot with a bot flag. The bot is operated by Rob Lowe - Smartify. |
This Bot user will be used to upload suitable content from the Smartify art App to Commons and Wikidata. The initial project is to upload artwork data on behalf of the Yale Center for British Art, about 60,000 open access items: paintings, drawing and prints.
About 5,000 YCBA items were loaded by Google Arts and Culture in 2012 - the intention is to leave these in place and not produce duplicates, but we may consider updating artwork text details if comparison with Yale's data shows them to be incorrect or out-of-date.
YCBA have asked that the Bot be run as a regularly scheduled process to apply ongoing changes to artwork details. This will only be enabled if we can do so without applying a heavy load on Commons.
The initial load of ~55,000 item will be done in batches and slowly at 1 or 2 items/minute.
