Gene Wiki edit
The Wikidata:WikiProject Molecular biology as Wikipedia:Gene Wiki evolved from storing data in en.wiki infoboxes to storing data at Wikidata. See Wikidata:WikiProject Gene Wiki and Wikidata talk:WikiProject Molecular biology.
The use of w:Template:PBB and w:Template:GNF Protein box was replaced by w:Template:Infobox gene populated from Wikidata. Initially the project created an infobox for each gene from the w:Entrez database and stored it as a subpage of the template PBB. The template was invoked as {{PBB|geneid}} which transcluded the infobox stored in the corresponding subpage of the template. For an example see w:Template:PBB/1000.
