Medical specialtyEdit

Hi, Alex. There is a problem with this parameter. In this way, the scheme seems to indicate that the disorder is only of a medical nature, when in reality its approach is mainly psychological. How to fix this problem? --Dapifer (talk) 10:38, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi! Personality disorders are a class of mental disorders treated by psychiatrists. PD are listed in the the International Classification of DISEASES and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Personality disorders are treated using psychotherapy (psychodynamic psychotherapy, dialectic behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy etc.), but psychiatric medication may be added. But why psychology? Psychology and psychotherapy are different specialties. Psychology is for mentally healthy people. -- Лорд Алекс (talk) 01:41, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
That's not right. In Italy, like in many European countries, personality disorders are treated by psychologists and also by psychiatrists (but not exclusively, one or the other). The psychologist is a mind specialist, both: healthy and sick. So this is a narrow parameter.... It needs to be adjusted. --Dapifer (talk) 15:13, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
I dunno what to do. In Russia personality disorders are treated by psychiatrists. The psychologist cannot treat mental disorders, 'cos he doesn't have a medical degree. -- Лорд Алекс (talk) 00:19, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
Clinical psychologists work with people who have life adjustment problems, and also with those who have emotional disorders or mental illness. They provide treatment for people of all ages and to families and to groups. Psychologists provide treatment for depression, anxiety, phobias, panic disorders, eating disorders, stress related problems, relationship problems, and severe mental disorders. --Dapifer (talk) 11:09, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
I know, Dapifer. But clinical psychology is not a medical specialty too.

Ok, I know that. For this reason I am creating another parameter for "other specialization", in which to include non-medical professions. --Dapifer (talk) 11:46, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
OK. "Other specialization" would be appropriate. - Лорд Алекс (talk) 12:13, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

Continue to remove psychology or psychotherapy. Perhaps it is the case that you participate in the discussion: Wikidata:Project chat#Infobox medical condition: medical specialty. Thanks --Dapifer (talk) 11:21, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
