Migrating interwiki links

Bonjour,

Why some iws are not deleted when Addbot edits articles, e. g. here ?

Budelberger (talk) 11:12, 8 March 2013 (UTC).

Well, your bot doesn’t work well : so hy:Կատեգորիա:1952-ի գրքեր and fiu-vro:Katõgooria:1952 raamaduq. Budelberger (talk) 23:56, 9 March 2013 (UTC).
As explained on the meta page the first task is to cut down the number of interwiki links that are on articles. As currently there are 22,000,000 articles with interwiki links, which works out at about 250,000,000 links. This makes it very hard to find those which are not yet on wikidata. The bot has now totally removed interwiki links from 2 million articles (which naturally makes it easier for other bots to find the pages that still have interwiki links that need to be put onto wikidata and conflicts that need to be resolved. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 11:25, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

(Can you help me?)

Hi Addshore

I want to run my bot GanimalBot on Wikidata to import pages form kuwiki but the bot can't log in on Meta. Is that correct?:

# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-
family = 'wikidata'
usernames['wikidata']['wikidata'] = u'GanimalBot'

The result is: KeyError='Wikidat'

Thanks and best regards.

George Animal (talk) 14:58, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Are you sure that's exactly what you typed in? The error seems that it was just a typo and you missed the "a" in "wikidata". Legoktm (talk) 11:27, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Bot creating pages in excluded namespaces

Hey Addshore. I was wondering why your bot created Q11042794, Q11111440, Q11130970, Q10993721, and Q10963841. Were there consensus to exempt the pages in question from the notability policy, or is this just a bug? — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 13:42, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

They were all created before the code was fixed (yesterday afternoon) , I just have not spotted them yet as I was waiting for the new database report :) The bot no longer makes these mistakes ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 16:51, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
Just fixing one more minor bug, expanded the code to include special pages, I saw no reason the bot should find any to add but apparently some pages to interwiki to them. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 17:01, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
Just caught Q11215462, Q11198061, Q11171863, Q11183533, and Q11244113 as well. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 03:42, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
The code that is currently running should ignore anything in the namespace -1 1 2 3 8 or 9 which means any of the above linked should not be done again. If I see anything after lunchtime on the 17th being created I know something else is wrong :/ ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 09:32, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

StatHat

Hi, how did you do to get a stat chart of your bot edits rate on StatHat? I created a user on that service, but I really cannot do it... I don't understand! Yes I found it, but I really don't understand how to use it :( --Viscontino (talk) 09:33, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
The top bit of the code is just a script that needs to be added to your script (this deals with sending the stats). And then whenever you want to update a stat you use "_StatHat.push(['_trackValue', 'XXXXXXXXXX', 3.14159]);" in your javascript where _trackValue is the name of the stat, XXXXXXXXXX is your api key (by default your email) and 3.14159 is your stat value :) ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 09:51, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Addbot suggestion: Category namespace

Hello!

I noticed that Addbot does not remove some category links, nevertheless correctly linked on Wikidata, when these links start with :Category: instead of a translated prefix. For instance, in this diff, links diq:Category:Universıtey and gd:Category:Oilthighean were left whereas diq:Kategoriye:Universıtey and gd:Roinn-seòrsa:Oilthighean were correctly present on Q5851345. Note that these interwikis are treated as exactly the same link, not a redirect. I have seen similar links in other languages also ignored in the past. It might be a good idea to remove these correct links! Also note that other namespaces (such as :Template:) might also be affected, although I don't remember seeing it. What do you think? Place Clichy (talk) 12:45, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

This has been mentioned to me before and I did try to add the ability to check for all possible namespaces to the bot but it appeared to break everything. I will possibly try and add a fix for this again in a week or so, currently very busy irl so may struggle to do anything speedy regarding this. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 12:47, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

move bot

Hi, Is it possible to define for move bot

  • if A > B
  • if A has item and B has Item
  • if one of them has only one language link, remove that link ( empty single interwiki item)
  • then if still A has an item move it to B.

I think with this method many of the errors will be solved by bot like Wikidata:Project_chat#not to make No-interwiki pages also I used this algorithm in this code and it solved many conflict. thanksYamaha5 (talk) 22:12, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

End of interwiki migration ?

Hi Addshore, Thanks for your great work. One question, could you change the links on https://tools.wmflabs.org/addshore/addbot/iwlinks/index.html?lang=nds_nl to link to nds-nl pages, instead of nds_nl (so a minus sign, instead of an underscore)? Rollbacking edits

Hello, I suggest you take a read over WD:Rollback, particularly this line "Rollback should only be used to revert vandalism and test edits". I'm not sure if you considered Vogone's edit to the RfP/B page vandalism, but you probably should have used the undo button and given a reason for the benefit of us uninvolved individuals. Ajraddatz (Talk) 23:20, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Indeed, and I know better, the edit was definitely AGF and I should not have used rollback. Looking at the sequence of events in the history I hope you can see what has happened. For convenience:
  1. Add -> has probably forgotten to transclude – at least the signature which indicates when a candidature starts was set
  2. Rem -> candidate does not want this transcluded now, and to transclude it for them is problematic
  3. Add -> Where does the candidate say this? If this is really the case, he should mention it himself here
  4. Then my final removal.
Thanks for the note and I am sorry for my miss-use of Rollback on this occasion.
Also after my brief checkover of wd:rollback we should probably add "To revert widespread edits incorrect or unhelpful edits" to the list of acceptable uses. ·addshore· talk to me! 23:36, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Doc pages of templates?

Hi, looking at the very useful http://tools.wmflabs.org/addshore/addbot/iwlinks/index.html?lang=ca it is clear that a bunch of interwiki links left are related to /doc pages of templates. In Catalan these pages are marked as "/ús". ca:Plantilla:Softredirect/ús tops de list, and indeed the corresponding w:Template:Soft redirect/doc has no Wikidata links either. Is this normal?--Qgil (talk) 20:12, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Addbot mistakes

Hi Addshore, please have a look at this change for w:Economic order quantity: while the wikidata page has de:Bestellmenge as interwikilink for de, the label added for de is Klassische Losformel. The reason seems that w:Economic order quantity has still another interwiki link for de: de:Klassische Losformel, taking higher priority. I'm not sure if this is enough to stop Addbot for now, but it is adding labels to the wrong wikidata page in this case. I have not reverted this change.

Also this change is very strange. But in this case I don't understand how it can happen. This one I have reverted. Regards, SchreyP (talk) 06:34, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

And now I see this change. I think it is time to stop the Addbot. SchreyP (talk) 06:43, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
The reason this was happening was dues to the double save feature of the bot. It Add all the sitelinks it can, add lebals if any site link is a wiki and the label doesn't exist, try to save. It then catchs a save that reports back link conflicts and removes the conflicting links (that are already on other items) and resaves. For this second resave it only removed the sitelinks again and not the labels. I am thinking of a way to track what the bot has added to an entity to the labels could also be removed but for time time being I have simply removed the code.
As for the second link you have linked to this is probably the bot doing what it is meant to do and have found a link from the rowiki link to the entity. There is no way for the bot to just guess and add a link to a random entity. I am trying to find the source article now. Thanks for reporting! ·addshore· talk to me! 07:55, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
So, the two actions that are seen by the bot are below:
After looking at the above it would seem it managed to try to use Wikipedia:Qualitätssicherung from Wikipedia:Mentorenprogramm/Richtlinien.
I have added this code to make sure this can't happen again. ·addshore· talk to me! 08:23, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi Addshore, thanks for the quickly resolution!

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────I think I spotted a new issue: review this two diffs [2] [3]. The Addbot is adding links to template docs instead of the template itself. Can you have a look? Regards, SchreyP (talk) 06:10, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Thats because that is where the interwiki links are stored on wikipedia for various templates, It is much easier to fix this on wikidata than try to make a bot account for it in multiple languages potentially then adding incorrect links for other templates / subpages of. ·addshore· talk to me! 08:06, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Ignoring interwiki link anchors?

Hi Addshore. On what basis did your bot add de:Liste der Nummer-eins-Hits in den britischen Charts (2012) (number one singles and albums in US in 2012) to Q1615501 (number one singles in UK in 2010s decade)? None of the articles linked in this item contains an interwiki link to de:, as far as I can tell. German article indeed contains a local interwiki link, but it's a section link: en:List of 2010s UK Singles Chart number ones#Number ones. This cannot be used to add the German article into that article's corresponding item. --YMS (talk) 13:25, 1 August 2013 (UTC) PS: And why does your bot revert my rollback, only two minutes after its initial edit? Shouldn't it at least wait some time before handling the same item again? This feels a bit like the old wars against the interwiki bots, where a human hardly had the chance to correct something while the bots immediately set back anything to status quo ante. --YMS (talk) 13:31, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi there! I looked into the log files and it found the interwiki link from here which links the nl article to the de article. As the item already had the nl sitelink it also added the de one!
As for the revert, that was simply a coincidence, The master script of the bot (that reads the database and gives the slaves jobs to do) had died and I had to restart it. This happened at some point during the run over nlwiki. As I restarted it it cleared the list of jobs for the slaves and started from the start of the list of nlwiki articles, hence it checked the article in question twice. As you had reverted its action it saw the article in exactly the same state as its first pass and carried out the same actions.
Usually the next pass over the article wouldn't be for some days. ·addshore· talk to me! 13:44, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
Ah, okay, thanks for the explanation. (Those charts lists are a mess anyway, with singles, albums, years and decades happily mixed throughout docens of countries. This would be quite a task to completely clean it up.) --YMS (talk) 15:58, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
Those sorts of articles are always interwiki conflict heaven :) ·addshore· talk to me! 08:01, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Iws from includeonly

Edits like this are incorrect since it is a documentation subpage. Links that are surronded by tags <includeonly> should be excluded from processing or may be the bot's algorythm should find the main template page instead of documetation subpage. --Emaus (talk) 22:30, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

See the section 2 sections above which also talks about /doc pages. As the interwiki links are stored on the /doc pages the only logical thing to do is import them from there. Once they are in our lovely structured format the work that needs to be done is very small and can easily be done from the UI or even a bot if one were made. ·addshore· talk to me! 08:00, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
I don't like current approach: the current mix of links on template level and some on doc level is not consistent and confusing for people that don't have this background. I see three options:
  1. We map all interwiki links on template level (my preference) and none on doc level (only a supporting page for the actual template) , to simulate the same behavior as before. It should not be too difficult to script this in the bot and the wikicode on the pages is clean.
  2. We map all interwiki links on doc level. This is inline with the old storage place of these links, but you miss the behavior of having the interwiki links available on template level. In my eyes the user experience goes down.
  3. The combination of option 2 with the invention of some wiki code put on the doc page, to simulate the same behavior as before: the set of interwiki links are also available on template level.
But at least I think we should be consistent in the end-user experience. Regards, SchreyP (talk) 19:10, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict)By all means take a look at the code and see if you can work out a way to catch all such pages removing links and adding links correctly! Of course the plan is to map all interwikis to templates from the template itself not the /doc pages. It is / will be very simple to basically do a find and replace on the whole of wikidata from a database dump and remove /doc from all templates that have it and the same for all other languages. ·addshore· talk to me! 19:10, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Your suggestion is maybe already the solution. If doing this in one go is too difficult. I'm fine with having a second script removing all the /doc from the template interwikis directly after running the first script. As long as the time between the two is not too long. SchreyP (talk) 19:16, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
That was always the plan :) I just have to wait for the bot to actually finish running through all of the pages in its database first! :D. Currently around trwiki I think, probably a few hundred thousand articles left! I do need to try and some up with a list of what the /doc page is called for every wiki! (if you want to help) ;p ·addshore· talk to me! 19:19, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

I have no experience yet with scripting for Wikipedia, so that would take some study first. But I will try to help as much as possible with the list of names used for the doc pages. SchreyP (talk) 21:14, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Okay :) If you want to start learning I am writing a new bot framework, take a look at the sample bot scripts here. If you ever want to try and write something I'd be happy to help! :). ·addshore· talk to me! 21:15, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
If I have a bit more time and to enter a next level of contribution to Wikipedia, yes I will surely look here :). In the mean time I have listed the doc names for 61 wikis above. I have to find some other templates with broad usage to come up with others. SchreyP (talk) 21:34, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Found one error in the lookup table: it is not cswiki but cawiki for doc name "ús". And will you handle the right to left languages separate? Regards, SchreyP (talk) 21:00, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
I will update that shortly! and as for RTL languages, I am not entirely sure, so I will need to do a bit of testing first :) ·addshore· talk to me! 21:05, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
I have extended above list and reviewed this list till wiki 119, so most 10000+ article wikis are covered. In total 124 wikis are covered now:
Some issues:
  1. for wikis am, he, and yi I don't understand the language structure and can't find /doc or corresponding.
  2. for wikis bat-smg, io, nap, and scn I can't locate any pages /doc or corresponding; they don't seem to be used. To be sure you could add them to the first /doc list.
  3. for at least wiki sw I saw both used: the default /doc and the new defined /hati. I suggest to look in any wiki also for /doc pages.
That's it for now. Regards, SchreyP (talk) 20:26, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
awesome and thanks for the help! I'll try and keep you updated when I find time to continue making /finish the script. ·addshore· talk to me! 16:39, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

Incorrect edit

Hi Addshore, thanks for the work you are doing with Addbot. However, I think I have found a mistake. I believe this edit by your bot is wrong. One is a DAB page, the other is about a feature in Antarctica. As is this, this and this. There may be more. It needs to be more careful. How do we fix this? Should the bot not check to make sure both topics are DAB pages before adding? 130.88.141.34 09:11, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

The bot does not change the links at all when importing them. The point of the bot is to preserve the links on the projects and simple transfer them as they are. Once they are on wikidata that is when we can start easily resolving conflicts. ·addshore· talk to me! 09:13, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for the prompt explanation. 130.88.141.34 09:15, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
No problem :) ·addshore· talk to me! 09:16, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

large administrative divisions?

Hello. Why you are entering your bot coordinates in item of large administrative divisions? I think it is agreed that for these cases are going to use shapes. In Spanish Wikipedia there are several property Infovox using P625 and the idea is that if the entities have coordinate used a template location map. The most successful is to put them as a qualifier of the capital. regards.--Miguillen (talk) 15:39, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi there! Which page exactly? The script isn't actually running yet, still being tested! ·addshore· talk to me! 15:42, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
I leave any diff of item should not have coordinates for not being able to locate using a template location map [4], [5] o [6] --Miguillen (talk) 16:20, 2 August 2013 (UTC) PD On this I think something was agreed http://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User_talk:Kizar#coordenadas_.28P625.29
It can take long time before a system with shapes will work here. Meanwhile I cannot see what damage a coordinate can do! -- Lavallen (block) 18:32, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
That is also sort of my opinion. The data is there, and is used on wikipedia. The data will be added with a reference showing where it has come from and the precision of the value. ·addshore· talk to me! 18:34, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Okay! I openly welcome further discussion on this! However I am going to continue the task. If and when shapes appear I will happily write a new script to migrate to them etc but currently they are not here. Coordinate data is being used by many people from wikidata and having more of it available through wikidata is a definite plus! ·addshore· talk to me! 11:02, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
In many cases administrative units will never have a 'shape' since that information isn't available, not exactly known or the information is protected by copyright. It will also be difficult by the help of shapes to identify the most logical place to put a coordinate. On svwp, we have put the coordinate of the municipalities at the administrative office of the municipality. That is never in the geometric center or in any other calculated place. -- Lavallen (block) 11:12, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
In the Spanish Wikipedia we es:Plantilla:Ficha de entidad subnacional which is used for both villages to regions or provinces and because they are made where there are coordinates on the one hand makes these appear where it belongs and other causes can not be programmed to for display a location map where you are localities so this is causing great prejudice. Do not perform a task with a bot already demonstrated that it has not the proper consensus [7] and less if a project is hurting things have to be done properly or it will not do them. Regards.--Miguillen (talk) 14:58, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
If these coordinates are in the capital of the entity Can put as a qualifier of the capital? [[8]]You can link it to any project with a Lua module like this es:Módulo:Wikidata/Calificador in fact I have linked several things with it. If you are the center of the map could be put into a new property so as not to create confusion. My intention is that you can schedule a tab that covers many types of entities so that in the future na do need to put any parameters.--Miguillen (talk) 15:22, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
That is just not right... the process should be Q5783(Andalusia) then find its capital Q8717(Seville) and then look for the coordinate location there... ·addshore· talk to me! 15:27, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict)The discussion you have linked to shows no consensus in either direction regarding "For everything we have coordinates right now". In Fact when the question came up I weekly supported adding for coords for everything we have but after rethinking it makes sense. Regarding some of the issues mentioned on that discussion. Coordinates have a precision value, therefor they are not exactly a point. Coordinates precision generally varies depending upon the size of the object, larger objects are generally less precise and this is displayed in the UI. Shapes are a long way down the road and the coordinate data is currently useful until such a time that shapes exist. Even after shapes come to wikidata coordinates will likely stay for a rather long time after.
Further coordinates say exactly where they have come from in the source, if someone accessing the dataset doesn't want to use coordinates provided from wikipedia articles this is easy to do, and as wikidata continues to build I have no doubt that coordinates with other potentially better sources will be added. As this happens some of the older coordinates will likely be removed.
To sum up, the bot is not adding incorrect or wrong data, there is no consensus in either direction regarding point coordinates and waiting for shapes and shapes are a long way away. ·addshore· talk to me! 15:23, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
One additional changed I have just made to the bot that I hope will make it slightly better for your perspective is that if a page contains more that one coordinate (like many larger articles about larger places to) the bot will not use any of the coordinates. Coordinates will only be added if there is only a single coordinate on the page and it has the precision of an arcminute or an arcsecond ·addshore· talk to me! 15:58, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
Well I look for another way to differentiate large cities admistrativas divisions. I think I will use the area to differentiate. The accuracy could be worth but each bot has followed a different approach, the manually moved and your bot in the states of Mexico has also the second. Take this opportunity to thank you because you've gotten this category es:Categoría:Wikipedia:Artículos por trasladar coordenadas a Wikidata 25000 to 5000 pages and now I've added this other category: es:Categoría:Wikipedia:Artículos con Ficha de entidad subnacional por trasladar coordenadas a Wikidata I hope to go down. Municipalities of Colombia

Please, can you prevent the User:Addbot move coordinates from the English wikipedia for Colombian municipalities ? those coordinates are wrong in most cases (someone copied wrong coordinates and these were spreading through other wikis uncorrected). I'm correcting these errors with the help of wikimapia, and I'm afraid your bot overwrite what I have done. Thanks for your attention.--Shadowxfox (talk) 04:53, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

... Why have they been left on Wikipedia if they are wrong?! There isn't really anything I can do now as the script has already run. The bot shouldn't overwrite anything, so I am not sure what exactly you mean in regards to that. ·addshore· talk to me! 08:32, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
They have been left om Wikipedia because we did not know they existed there at all, we are not watching 170 projects. Often is Google used as source by the editors, but it's a very unreliable source. For coordinates is often the "homewiki" of the language spoken in the area the most reliable source. -- Lavallen (block) 09:53, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

The User:Lavallen is right, no one noticed them because no one knew they were wrong. What I meant before is that sometimes the bots overwrite what users add and I fear that happening in this case. (sorry for the bad English).--Shadowxfox (talk) 17:30, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

rm Wikipedia

Hi Addshore,

I noted that your bot helped build interwikis for that Wikipedia edition.

According to rm:Spezial:Statistics there are just 3463 articles. From User:Byrial/Language_statistics_for_items, it's not clear how many still need creation (the 4000 there seem to refer to all namespaces). Yesterday, I created a few items for writers only available there.

Could your bot create items for the few articles that may still remain orphaned? I can double-check them for duplicates afterwards. --  Docu  at 11:43, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

According to this the bot is only aware of a few hundred pages that still have interwiki links! Addbot hasn't started creating items on wikidata, only adding links to pre existing ones. In a week or two hopfully I will be able to create items for all of the remaining links! :) ·addshore· talk to me! 11:49, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
If there are no interwikis on an item, would it appear on that list? Would rm:Margarita Gangale-Uffer and rm:Gian Fontana have been there (I create the items yesterday)? I'm mostly interested in such "orphans" without any interwikis. This might take care of some, but I doubt Legobot will run anytime soon.
I can fix the few articles that appear in the 166. --  Docu  at 12:02, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
The list contains all articles that have interwiki links on them as of 2 weeks ago. I will rescan database dumps every now and again and update the list. The bot constantly scans the list checking the articles and attempts to import the links to wikidata items. The list does not contain articles that have no interwikilinks! :) ·addshore· talk to me! 12:05, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

globe record for coordinates

Hi, I've just found out, that Your bot have add some coordinates with wrong globe record (there should be https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q2 instead of earth - see: User:Byrial/Globes, Wikidata:Project chat/Archive/2013/08#Coordinate Datatype misused. Could You, please, correct the problematic globes and scripts of Your bot? Cheers --Magul (talk) 12:20, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Hmm, other than the first few edit (which amount to about 30 out of a few hundred thousand) the globe was not specified in the edits and the default value was used for earth.. Could you link me to one of the edits you have noticed so that I can see if it is in these first few edits or it is infact the default value for globe? ·addshore· talk to me! 12:21, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
I haven't really check edits, but it looks in item's history, that your bot have add them. Maybe the inconsistency was create because of some change in early stage of coordinate dataset. The list of items with wrong globe is on User:Byrial/Globes. --Magul (talk) 12:51, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
The items with wrong globe indication is listed at User:Byrial/Globes#Coordinate values with globe given as a string instead of an item. Here are the edits for the first 3 on the list: 1, 2, 3 Byrial (talk) 12:56, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict)After testing my bot will only have used 'Q2 (Earth) 518405' :) (as is default if no globe is specified). I can only imagine some of the edits which have 'earth' defined as the globe were created (and missed by me) during the testing. Of course I will help tidy some of them up :) ·addshore· talk to me! 12:56, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
Yep, 31st of july was before the actual run started :) If the run itself was wrong the list would be much larger. ·addshore· talk to me!

Update of coordinates

Can you replace the coords in the Swedish Municiapalities? Enwp was used here as source and they are only down to minute and not always checked. The coordinates on svwp are detailed down to seconds, to identify the administrative office of each municip and are therefor more useful. sv:Kategori:Sveriges_kommuner can help you identify the 290 items. -- Lavallentalk(block) 13:24, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

I guess in the next version of the bot I will make something comparing the precision of the coords on the item and the coords that the bot could add. Currently if there is any coord the bot will not add another. ·addshore· talk to me! 08:33, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Q6930509: Template:Countries of South America vs. Modèle:Palette Transport ferroviaire en Amérique du Sud

Where do you keep getting this wrong link? Again I was looking for local interwiki links, but did not find any (at the time of your bot's first revert of my removal, fr.wp did actually have some, but after the second edit, I couldn't find any). --YMS (talk) 06:10, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

It is potentially picking the link up from the other language wikipedias, each time it finds it it will check to see if it is not on the item, and if it is not it will add it (hence the sort of revert) although the edit itself is based on a totally different page and site. ·addshore· talk to me! 08:36, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
Okay, on a closer look I found local interwikis in the included documentations of the templates in three different languages, even after your bot probably already cleared several others. I will check such things in more detail in the future. Sorry for bothering you. Keep up the good work, thanks. --YMS (talk) 09:32, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
No problem! There the problem with having so many sources for the infomation, it takes a long time to go through the whole list! In theory it could actually keep adding the link another hundred or so times! (but this is very unlikely) . ·addshore· talk to me! 10:26, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Removal of interwiki links

I think we should remove these 4 kind of interwiki links too:

  1. Interwiki links to redirect pages whose targets' links already exist on wikidata.
  2. Interwiki links to deleted pages.
  3. Interwiki links of templates which are held in their doc pages.
  4. Interwiki links of pages which is in Wikipedia or help namespace and whose interwiki links aren't in wikidata but can be centralized to wikidata.

questions about wikidata

hello,addshore:

I'm a Chinese girl, so glad to contact you , I have some questions , but I did't find Chinese administrator, I see your name on the first place of administrator list, so I contact you.
I'm now using Chinese WIKIPEDIA to do some research, but I'm not familiar with the structure of data in Wikipedia.
  I have the following questions:
1、Do you know any Chinese administrator ? Since I'm not that familiar with English, I'm not sure whether I can express myself clearly, so if there's a Chinese administrator, the communication may be better, but if there's no Chinese administrator, English is fine.
2、where can I see and download the data in Wikipedia ?  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wang zhao 201399 (talk • contribs).
Neither being Addshore nor Chinese, I can say that according to Wikidata:Administrators by language, User:Stevenliuyi is the only Chinese administrator here. He hasn't been active recently here, but maybe you can contact him anyway. Additionally, User:Zolo knows some Chinese. As for your second question, if I understand it correctly, maybe the (very short) pages Wikidata:Database download and Wikidata:Data access can help you. --YMS (talk) 09:24, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
