MediaWiki message delivery (talkcontribs)

Hello

This is an important message regarding this page.

This page uses Structured Discussions/Flow, an obsolete tool that causes many maintenance problems. It has been decided to remove this tool from the wikis.

As of December 16, it will no longer be possible to add a new topic or post a message on this page.

Before this date, you can move or have this page moved to a subpage, in order to archive it. Once moved, this page will become a standard discussion page.

If you get this message on your personal talk page, it is probably because you turned Structured Discussions on, using the Beta features page. Please check there if you can to turn Structured Discussions off.

If you haven't moved this page by December 16, a script will automatically move the page to an archive page (the format will be Page name/Flow). The page using Structured Discussions/Flow will then be made read-only.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Jamaica's level agencies

Hello Ainali. We encountered an issue where we could not retrieve the data coverage for Jamaica state level and first level agencies. As an example, we have the following syntax being inputted to the section:

State level agencies

State level agencies subpage (go to the subpage before trying to update the table or use any inspection links as the page is transcluded)

The syntax above works with other countries (e.g. Singapore and Sweden), but somehow does not work with Jamaica. What would be the workaround for this issue? Thank you

Reynaldo Domenico (talkcontribs)

Hi Ainali, thank you for your answer, yes actually we tried to create it but we didn't know how to do that, is there maybe any guideline about how to do that?

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Click on the red link above, add the template (adjusted for Jamaica), press publish. It's not that complex!

European Parliament's Offices in different countries?

2
Zblace (talkcontribs)

Hey as you likely most informed on politics and WD - here is a question: EU elections are soon...should we have WD items for all EP's offices and alike bodies created? Is there are a good way to do it in one go with same basic statements?

Ainali (talkcontribs)

That's a good question. What are the legal statuses of these "offices"? Are they just departments of the EP or are they registered as local organizations in the country? If the latter, they could easily have their own items, if the former, I am not so sure.

Ok, it seem to work on correctly Chrome, but it give no result on Firefox.

Hsarrazin (talkcontribs)

Hello @Ainali

I can confirm that it works on Edge : yesterday, the queries failed with a syntax error on line 5 (sorry I did not note the exact place of the error)

Today, it works neatly on Edge, but on Firefox, the query returns an invisible result :

I can see "Most common properties that use "Saint-Elie-de-Caxton" as value", then

property
propertyLabel
count
url

, but nothing displays, which seems strange, because if I copy the text, I get

property wd:P47
propertyLabellimitrophe de
count5
url

do you know what can cause that ?

Ainali (talkcontribs)

The results are there, they are just very far to the right. If you select a few rows, you can then scroll to the right to see the result. Unfortunately, I have no idea on how to make it look nicer.

Hsarrazin (talkcontribs)

ahhhhh, what's strange is that it's only on Firefox... Edge and Chrome seem ok

Please do not interfere (this way) when I am building the item. Also, in this case {{Q|Q114757615}} is explicitly not the (abstract) chemical element, but its {{Q|Q2512777}}.

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Ok, my mistake. But in the future, this could be avoided if it is perfectly clear from the description that it is something different.

DePiep (talkcontribs)

OK, thxs. Btw, making that clear would take some more time than one minute. Also, within chemistry the topic[[Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_Chemistry#Metaclasses_for_chemical_entities_and_using_instance_of_(P31)/subclass_of_(P279)|of substances]] is open for discussion & improvement. So meanwhile some unclarity might be unavoidable.
