Merging items edit

Hallo Ato 01,

If you were not already using it, you may want to check out the merge.js gadget for merging items. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically nominate the page you are merging from for deletion. This way of nominating also makes it easier for the admins to process such requests. For support and other options you can check the help page about merging.

official website (P856) adding/removing? edit

Hello, why are you adding external links to municipality items with P856, when this is already given? example. you are duplicating a lot of stuff, and flooding my watchlist (and probably the watchlists of many other dewiki users) with these unneeded edits. Can you explain? Holger1959 (talk) 19:35, 1 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

@ Holger1959: Sorry about flooding your watchlist. Most of German municipalities (I quesss 90%) was missing official website. Now it is about 10-20%. At first, I was trying to add it as I found on dewiki. Then I noticed some with ending ".de" (without "/" at the end), I duplicated, then I decided to add only sites without "/" mark at the end. So should be looks like. I also deleted what I noticed but could be some remaining. Do you have any idea to avoid so cases? It would be good to have a rule for P856, not allowed any ending with ".de/", ".com/", etc. to avoiding such of duplications. Ato 01 (talk) 05:47, 2 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
thank you for the reply. I didn't notice this still was missing in so many items, so it's good you added all the links.
Regarding your question: no, i don't know how you could avoid such duplicates. Maybe ValterVB can tell you more (or other users who know bot work or all the tool options better than me). Holger1959 (talk) 07:19, 3 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
official website (P856) have constraint "single value", for a list of violation you can can see this page. To check which municipalities of Germany don't have P856 you can use Autolist --ValterVB (talk) 07:38, 3 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

P18 edit

Hi,

I just saw that you add a second image on Noyal-Châtillon-sur-Seiche (Q1021786). But on image (P18), there is a constraint « Single value ». Should I remove one of the two images or not ?

Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 11:55, 28 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

@VIGNERON: Hi, thank you your remark. I have only imported pictures from infoboxes to improve Hungarian articles. Now I know, with Autolist can I filter lists, which has statement image (P18), which has not. I think, one picture in an item is right. I did not really know about such a constraint. Sorry. I have deleted it. Ato 01 (talk) 07:18, 29 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thank you.
Since we're talking, do you have a bot for importing pictures from infoboxes ? It could be very useful to import the blazons coat of arms image (P94) from french communes infoboxes.
Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 08:39, 29 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

@VIGNERON: Now I know, it would be easier but I don't have wikidata bot. I used AWB Module for collect parameters and QuickStatements to write it in to Wikidata. Ato 01 (talk) 10:28, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Atobot edit

To run a bot here, please file a request at Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot.--GZWDer (talk) 18:30, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I did it. Ato 01 (talk) 19:40, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Family names edit

Hi! For names, we use the "one string, one item" system, which mean that we create a specific item for each writing variation of a name (and of course for different writing system)s. "Oszvald" is not the same as "Osvald", so they should be on separate items and then these items should be linked together with said to be the same as (P460). I hope that's more clear, thank you! --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 07:00, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

I created the new item, seeing that it didn't exist: Oszvald (Q30101488). --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 07:03, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

I see. Thank you. ato (talk) 07:07, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey Ato 01, the discussion at User_talk:Tacsipacsi#The_bot_that_archives_the_page_linked_to_Q3907025 is relevant for you. Please take notice of it, and feel free to add input there as well. Regards, MisterSynergy (talk) 20:22, 21 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
