Test with Orcbot edit

Hey Csisc, I tried to do some test edits with Orcbot, but got the reply: "assertbotfailed: You do not have the "bot" right, so the action could not be completed." How can I perform the test? Eva (talk) 14:59, 14 Aug 2020 (MEST)

@EvaSeidlmayer: Theoretically, you can perform the test on https://test.wikidata.org/. However, I do not know if you can find there sufficient data to curate. --Csisc (talk) 13:57, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Csisc: Applying Wikibase-CLI I want to push some items I copied from the "real Wikidata" to the test instance. The idea is to curate those items with Orcbot afterwards in order to check it. What is the API URL of the test instance? Eva (talk) 16:21, 15 Aug 2020 (MEST)
@EvaSeidlmayer: The URL is https://test.wikidata.org/w/api.php. --Csisc (talk) 14:46, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Csisc: I changed the properties of the items (on which I want to test) to those used in the test instance. However, when I try to push I get the error message "TypeError: Cannot read property 'unit' of undefined.." - do you have an idea how I can fix it? Sorry for bothering Eva (talk) 21:07, 15 Aug 2020 (MEST)
@EvaSeidlmayer: You have to debug the code to find where the type deficiency occurs. Please think of putting several lines as comments. --Csisc (talk) 14:58, 16 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Q88973921 edit

Just wanted to point out that the CFR claims you added here appear to be violating constraints. Your usage of the "based on heuristic" qualifier seems to be incorrect. I see your edits are semi-automated, so I wanted to let you know in case you had something configured incorrectly. —{ CrypticCanadian } 01:54, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Q87343682 edit

Hi, why are you undoing my edits ? I made the latest value as a preferred value in each property following: P1120, P8010 and P1603. In order to call one value in other projects and not all values, because we are already interested in one value and is the latest value. Can you explain to me what is the problem here and what is right? --محمد الهرهوري (talk) 20:30, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

محمد الهرهوري: I thank you for your answer. The problem here is that the coronavirus pandemic in Tunisia is still ongoing. This means that the value that you have set as preferred now will be obsolete within 24 hours. It will useless and extremely time-consuming to set a preferred value and then change it every day. That is why I invite you not to do this setting again. This setting works for data such as the population of a country, a GDP of a country or any other type of data that changes on a yearly basis. However, this does not seem to work for a data that changes on a daily basis. Furthermore, I am adding this epidemiological information to Wikidata and I use it to feed a a SPARQL-based dashboard for the surveillance of COVID-19 pandemic in Tunisia. Your changes alter the work of this national dashboard. --Csisc (talk) 20:50, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Csisc: OK, I understand.. but we use the {{#invoke:Wikidata2}} module in Arabic Wikipedia and we want to get one value what is the latest value.. Can you tell me how we can do that ? Is not it better to use one value and constantly update with its history update too, so we will have one value and one time and both of them are always the latest ? So we acn use those data without problems. --محمد الهرهوري (talk) 21:11, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
محمد الهرهوري: This can be certainly done using Lua scripts. You can ask about that in Wikidata Community Portal. Thank you. --Csisc (talk) 21:23, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Csisc: Thank you, now I have known that I can use "withdate" parameter in the module for getting the latest value.. and sorry for this inconvenience and misunderstanding. --محمد الهرهوري (talk) 21:46, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

As a note, 15:00 UTC is:

  • 11:00 AM in New York, USA

Wikiproject COVID-19 call tomorrow (1st of June) - reminder edit

Hello, Houcemeddine,

How are you doing?

This is a friendly reminder of tomorrow's (Monday, 01 of June) Wikiproject meeting, at 15:00 UTC as usual, and at the usual link: https://meet.google.com/vtp-ighz-npx .

If you want to add something to the agenda in advance, feel free to just edit Wikidata:WikiProject_COVID-19/Project_meeting.

I hope you can make it! :)

Invitation for the WikiProject COVID-19 call tomorrow (Monday, 15 of June) edit

Hello Houcemeddine,

How are you? I hope things are all right. I saw the OpenCitations Bot, how is it going??

I would like to invite you to the tomorrow (Monday, 15 of June) call of the Wikiproject COVID-19 at 15:00 UTC .

This is the link for the call: https://meet.google.com/vtp-ighz-npx

This is the link for the etherpad: https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/wikidata_covid_notes

The WikiProject seems to be losing momentum. Perception of the size of COVID-19 as an enormous problem is fading (at least in Brazil). That might be a sign of things getting better, but it is also very dangerous (as they might not be that better yet).

In tomorrow's call, I would like to discuss with you two important and related questions:

- How can this WikiProject best serve the anti-COVID-19 effort?

- What can this project offer for the post-COVID-19 Wikidata world?

As usual, if you have any topics to add, you can do so either before at the Project Meeting Page or at the meeting. or at the meeting.

I hope you can make it!

All the best,

Tiago

Corrupted dates edit

Hi, please see publication date (P577) at this edit. Precision is set as day, but day and month values are set as 00. Could you fix used code to avoid corrupted date values creation? — Ivan A. Krestinin (talk) 06:30, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ivan A. Krestinin: I thank you for your comment. We are still working on the bot in GitHub (https://github.com/csisc/OpenCitations-Bot). The edits you have seen are only experimental. In such a situation, the object is meant to be an year. That is why days and months have been set as 00. However, we did not find out how to succeed to add object as an year. I will do some tests on Artesunate versus quinine in the treatment of severe falciparum malaria in African children (AQUAMAT): an open-label, randomised trial (Q107998445) to see how to solve this matter. After that, I will update the source code in GitHub. I have added an issue about this (https://github.com/csisc/OpenCitations-Bot/issues/29). --Csisc (talk) 09:49, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ivan A. Krestinin:   Done. I have gone through the source code of Wikibase Integrator and found out how to solve this interesting issue. --Csisc (talk) 10:04, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Great! Thank you! — Ivan A. Krestinin (talk) 10:40, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Description structurée des catégories dans les projets Wikimédia edit

Hello Cisc,
I am interested by your gadget tool to display structured categories.
Could you please explain me how can I implement it ?
I didn't see it in the gadget tools...
Thanks.

@Arauzier: This is simple. You just have to paste mw.loader.load('//meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-StructuredCategories.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); in Special:MyPage/common.js in your home wiki. --Csisc (talk) 10:33, 9 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I added it but when I load the same page as in your demo (catégorie: scientifique tunisien) the label "Descritption structurée" in french wikipedia does not appear.
I deleted the cache, rebooted my computer but it does not work.
I am novice on wikipedia/wikidata.
Any idea ? Arauzier (talk) 11:32, 9 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Arauzier: You should do this at https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utilisateur:Arauzier/common.js. --Csisc (talk) 11:34, 9 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks it works :-) Arauzier (talk) 14:12, 9 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group Talk edit

Dear Houcemeddine,

I became aware of your work with RefB through the post at: https://misinfocon.com/refdata-adding-trustworthiness-to-wikidata-d3cc68c21a6f and was wondering if you would like to speak on that topic at an LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group Talk.

We have an opening Tuesday, April 19 and talks are at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 16:00 UTC / 6pm CET (https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1650384008). And if that date doesn’t work for you we’d be happy to discuss others.

Talks are scheduled for an hour, usually with a 30-45 minute presentation by the speaker(s), followed by an audience Q&A and done via Zoom. You can see recordings of past speakers by following the links to agendas on our project page at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_LD4_Wikidata_Affinity_Group/Affinity_Group_Calls. And I am happy to answer any questions you have, of course.

Thank you!

Emwille (talk) 16:00, 18 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Emwille: I thank you for your invitation. Unfortunately, I will not be available until July. I have made significant progress upon RefB and I will be honoured to present all my research projects on the matter if this works for you. --Csisc (talk) 18:17, 18 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Thank you, a talk in July would be great! Let me double-check with my co-facilitators to make sure no one else has scheduled a speaker for those days, and I will get back to you early next week. Emwille (talk) 18:30, 18 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Emwille: July 12th will work for me. Thank you. --Csisc (talk) 13:34, 21 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Emwille: The title will be "Enriching and Validating Wikidata from Large Bibliographic Databases". --Csisc (talk) 13:37, 21 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Csisc This is entirely up to, but your July 12 talk will occur during the 2022 LD4 Conference on Linked Data (held virtually, July 11-15, 2022). The conference organizers have given us the option of having your talk be part of the conference as a spot for the LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group. It could be exactly the same content, topic, and time, it would just appear on the conference program as part of the conference.
Or we can still hold it as a "regular" LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group talk like we usually do. It's totally up to you, fine with me either way, and I apologize for not realizing July 12 was during the conference when we talked earlier. If you could just let me know your choice we can proceed however you like (or if you have questions just let me know), thank you! Emwille (talk) 13:57, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Excellent, thanks very much! I've blocked out the 12 July date for your talk, and will be in touch closer to that time with an agenda, zoom link, etc. Please contact me if you need anything in the meanwhile. Emwille (talk) 17:54, 21 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Emwille: Of course, it will be an honour for me to present my work at the 2022 LD4 Conference on Linked Data. The session can be very interesting for the LD4 Audience. Feel free to organize the session as a part of the LD4 Conference. I will send you the updated title and abstract of my presentation within two working days. Thank you for reaching me again. Have a nice day.--Csisc (talk) 14:30, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Emwille: Here are the update title and abstract for my presentation:
Title: Bibliometric-Enhanced Information Retrieval as a tool for enriching and validating Wikidata
Abstract: Nowadays, scholarly knowledge is evolving and research findings are subject to adjustment or enrichment daily. Wikimedia Projects, particularly Wikipedia and Wikidata, trying to capture a significant set of human knowledge are facing difficulties in covering major aspects of notable information due to the limitations of human efforts in this context. This fact is worsened by the lack of skills in library and information science such as reference support and the biased representation of the Wikimedia Community, disregarding females and people from the Global South. Bibliographic databases such as PubMed provide large-scale data about millions of scholarly publications, covering various aspects of scholarly knowledge. Thus, these resources can be leveraged to capture insights into human findings using a variety of techniques ranging from natural language processing and knowledge engineering to machine learning and graph embeddings. In this presentation, I will highlight our research project as the Data Engineering and Semantics Research Unit in Tunisia and the Sisonkebiotik African Biomedical Machine Learning Community to use PubMed, a bibliographic database for the biomedical domain curated by NCBI and NIH, to verify, enrich and validate clinical information in Wikidata using intuitive algorithms that consider the bibliographic metadata of scholarly publication when retrieving information to update Wikidata in the biomedical context. These algorithms are driven by Biopython, a Python Library for managing PubMed Entrez API, and PyTorch and Scikit-Learn as Machine Learning Python Libraries.
Feel free to adjust the title and abstract.
If you have any comment, feel free to write me here or by email.
See you in July.
Yours Sincerely,
--Csisc (talk) 20:18, 27 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Csisc Thank you! I've forwarded the title and abstract to the conference organizers. If you need anything from me please contact me here or via email (emwille AT ilstu DOT edu). --Emwille (talk) 14:51, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Csisc The agenda for the talk next Tuesday is available at https://docs.google.com/document/d/19fWaod_qy2J5y6Mqjbnccen7nyb4nj6EnudCDouefQU/edit#heading=h.9iz3ijomikzx and the link on sched is: https://sched.co/13scd. Feel free to add any links or anything you'd like to the agenda, and it also has Zoom information. If there's anything else I can do to help please let me know, and thank you! Emwille (talk) 13:41, 7 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Csisc Thank you again for a great presentation and Q&A! A link to the recording is available on our agenda. The LD4 conference organizers have also made videos of sessions available on their youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx2ZluWEZtIAu6Plb-rY2lILjUj6zRa9l. Would it be all right if we included the video of your session there? Totally fine if not, but we wanted to make sure and ask your permission before offering that option to the conference organizers. Thank you! Emwille (talk) 20:19, 15 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Emwille: Thank you for having me during this week. This was very interesting. Of course, you have all the rights to share our work with the LD4 Community. --Csisc (talk) 13:04, 16 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Emwille: Feel free to reach me when absolutely needed. --Csisc (talk) 13:05, 16 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
