WikidataComplete edit

Hi DD063520,

Interesting idea to add statements and supporting quotes through a tool to Wikidata.

At first, at [1], I didn't quite catch how the quote related to the statement. Afterwards, it occurred to me, that "American" did indeed support it. Though we also have the statement at Q23670#P495, it could vary from one seasons to another.

  • In general, I think quotes are added within the reference section, not directly as qualifier.
  • Furthermore, while we import information from Wikipedia, I don't think we would generally add quotes from there.
  • The general idea is to add references to Wikidata from other sources: this can be the ones Wikipedia uses, but also other.

Maybe you want to seek further input Wikidata:Project chat about the tool. --- Jura 13:40, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jura, thank you for the feedback. The statements are created by this tool https://wikidatacomplete.org. So what we can change is for the fact that the quote is attached to reference. I would still really would like to put it otherwise the connection is lost. It could be also a way in future to import references from wikipedia, since we know to which text it is attached.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by [[User:|?]] ([[User talk:|talk]] • contribs).

I see your point. Some tools just add link to the page version (with "Wikimedia import url"), others just add "imported from" (the assumption is that it's the current version when the statement is added). Maybe other users have a different view on quoting Wikipedia. --- Jura 12:58, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
