Football stats

Now that phase two is more-or-less up and running (I haven't touched it because of the lack of sourcing), have you had any early thoughts about how we would go about adding football stats to individual players' items? Because different projects require different stats (some insist on league only, others league + cup), and given the low likelihood of compromise between different language projects, we would probably need multiple properties for each team someone played for. —WFC— 13:02, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Lavrio/Laurium (Q3219865)‎ vs Laurion/Laurium (Q985449)‎

Hello,

there is recurrent problem between these two articles in many wikis. The fact is the greek name of Laurion is used to name the town of Laurion (now Lavrio) (Q3219865) and the mountains around wich were a long used mining sector (Q985449)‎. The french, catalan and spanish wikis have these two articles and the english and many others have only the town's one. I've changed the label of the Laurion mines in english, feel free to rewrite it in correct english as I'm not a native english speaker ;-)

Dear Delusion23, I noticed that you have just deleted these two items, which I had only just created and already used on over 50 pages. Of course you are completely right that they did not YET meet the notability policy, but a quick message on my talk pages would have been appreciated. I was still in the proces of creation and trying to figure out how to properly make these items. Anyway, maybe you can help me with this. Let's take q7265977 as an example: this item is supposed to be a "former municipality". There are lists and categories of former municipalities on Wikipedia, but no articles. Former municipalities are discussed in the articles about municipalities. This is fine for Wikipedia, but as far as Wikidata is concerned a _former_ municipality is distinctly different than a present municipality. So: how to go about this. Do I really need to create an unnecessary Wikipedia article to be able to create a proper entity type here on Wikidata or is there another way to do this? Thanks in advance for your help. Merge of Q1753200 and Q5482010

Hello Delusion23, items Q1753200 and Q5482010 refer to the same thing (except for the Basque links). So globally, I think we should merge all the interwikis in the same item execpt the Basque one (eu:Palestinako intifadak) which should stay alone as of now. Do you agree? Citizenship

In Germany there was no national citizenship until the 1920s. Therfore I added the local citizenships. Frankfurt am Main was a Free City in Germany, therefore the citizenship was Frankfurt am Main. Stryn and myself have been going through the merges to correct them. Please be sure to check that the articles are actually about the same topic before merging them. Wikivoyage Merger

Well the code ish can be seen here! When I wrote it (a few days after the importer bot ran) it seemed to merge rather nicely, although it could not merge everything. Potentially what might be a better idea is to have it spam a list of for people to merge? Thoughts? I must admit I'm not especially fond of the manual of style for description, as it always seem to miss something important, and I don't think description should limit themselves to be disambiguation hints, but real description. For example my description of bioenergy mentioned that it was more used today to speak of energy consumed by us, and (I think) it is important. I really see no harm in having long descriptions, having a little more details in a description can help when you search something or when browsing. I won't complain if somebody shorten the description, but my priority is that item is to describe items, and following the guide of style is on the lower places of this list /o\. I also like the idea that description could find other uses, like concept annotation in Wikipedia for items who do not have articles, but have a description that we could show. yeah of course it's important to put the most relevant information first, and that's what I try to do. But when you say just like a bot would, I don't really agree, a bot would know it's a rock festival also by checking the statements. A human would ask himself what was the name of this rock festival in put place, maybe remenber the begining, type the letter, and if he can find that it's the thing he is indeed looking for just by automatic completion he will be happy. Template:GFDL-with-disclaimers

Hi Delusion23, I would like to know why you removed the links to the GFDL-templates. I sorted the templates according to whether they contain a disclaimer or not. I think due to the severe nature of the disclaimer that makes sense. If the local wikis remove the disclaimer from the template the iws can be corrected.
