Chiara Letizia Montanari
editCan you take a look at Chiara Letizia Montanari (Q134289081), editor of La segreta dolcezza (1997)? Is she identical with ISNI 0000 0005 1985 0117: Thesis (M.A.)--University of Iowa, 2005. --Kolja21 (talk) 22:59, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
- PS: What are the requirements for a SBN author ID to be recorded in VIAF? --Kolja21 (talk) 23:09, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
- Since she was a nun already in 1997 in Italy, it is highly improbable she afterwards studied in the US.
- For the general question, it is a complex one ;-) I try to arrange a comprehensible explanation (you find some data in English also in File:NLL2024 - SBN and Wikidata.pdf):
- all SBN bibliographic and authority records have levels attached to them (from the lowest to the highest: 05, 51, 71, 90, 95, 97; I have never found a clear explanation for the choice of these numbers)
- each cataloguer working in SBN also has a level attached to them: if they have a low level (usually 51), they can only create and edit bibliographic/authority records at level 51 (or 05); if they have a high level (e.g. 95, which is used by the two national central libraries, National Central Library of Florence (Q460907) and Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma (Q6382871)) they can create and edit bibliographic/authority records at all levels up to 95, and create new records at the level they prefer (the norm being: if you create a good-quality record, choose a high level, so that few will be able to edit and damage it; if you create a low-quality record, choose a low level, so that many will be able to edit and improve it)
- ICCU historically sent to VIAF only authority records with level 95 and 97 (about 5% of the total, the total being now 4.5 M authority records); from 2023 it sends also level 90, besides 95 and 95 (about 10% of the total); this operation happens once per year, usually around January/February, although ICCU is planning to make this operation more frequent (at least twice per year; I might have some new info next month)
- Finally a comment on the issues:
- many authority records at level 90 and 95 are weekly-individualised or not-individualised, despite the aforementioned norm (I participated in a detailed analysis in 2022: https://doi.org/10.6092/issn.2283-9364/15078); this also means that the clusterisation operated by VIAF on them might produce conflations
- my impression is that in the last years not all the authority records at level 90 95 97 have been sent to VIAF, or at least that VIAF has not bothered to cluster all of them; practically, since the present MnM catalogue of SBN persons (https://mix-n-match.toolforge.org/?#/catalog/5076) contains only persons with level 90 95 97, these entries should all be also in VIAF since at least 2024, but this does not happen in fact. I have asked sometimes why to ICCU, but as of now we haven't been able yet to locate the problem on ICCU side or on VIAF (OCLC) side.
- I hope this is clear and detailed enough! Epìdosis 08:46, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
VIAF IDs
editHi, Epìdosis,
I've reached the monthly limit for the VIAF API and will need to wait seven days before I can use it again. Apparently, it doesn't reset at the start of the month.
You probably have seen the updated counts on User:Difool/viaf counts. Going through the GND IDs will take 46 months. I'll first do the IDs with counts below 10,000, and then start with GND ID.
Regarding VIAF redirects, and possibly task 2, we might consider moving some of that functionality to for example the moreIdentifiers script by @Bargioni. Since the script already identifies VIAF redirects and abandoned clusters, it could send them to a central location for collection. Or a new button could be added, so users can resolve redirects with a click.
Because the script runs on user computers, VIAF limits wouldn't be reached as quickly. Difool (talk) 13:58, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Difool:, thanks very much for the update.
- Yes, the daily and monthly limits are very annoying, combined with the absence of dumps; having the possibility to use dumps for this tasks, as well as for the check of redirected and abandoned clusters, would be ideal IMHO.
- So yes, I fully agree to start with IDs with count below 10k, and then rise to NUKAT, NKC and finally GND.
- For VIAF redirects, we will try working on a button to fix them inside moreIdentifiers, I agree that the priority is adding missing VIAF IDs; in the meanwhile, I still hope in OCLC restoring VIAF dumps sooner or later.
- From time to time I also try to help with User:Difool/viaf already somewhere, although I fear that in May and June my time will be very limited. Best, Epìdosis 14:50, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
Giuseppe Paglia
--Thomas Kerboul (BGE) (talk) 14:38, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
Epìdosis 17:50, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
Giuseppe Pontrelli
--Thomas Kerboul (BGE) (talk) 14:06, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
Grazie! Epìdosis 17:59, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
Marc Perrenoud
PerNum=1079074&LanCode=37&menu=pub. Grazie! --Thomas Kerboul (BGE) (talk) 05:37, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Thomas Kerboul (BGE): Done, grazie! Epìdosis 09:30, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
Karol Wojtyła
editHello!
After a triple merging, the Rodovid genealogical record for Karol Wojtyła (pope John Paul II) is now https://en.rodovid.org/wk/Person:127587 (with the id number 127587 instead of 429214 and 903576).
Can you do the correction?
By the way, since many Rodovid records are available in several languages, do you know if it is possible to specify one of these languages in the links displayed on Wikidata?
Merci / Thanks! --Rockidata (talk) 08:01, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Rockidata: thanks for the report, ID changed in the item; for the language specification, I think that it is impossible given the way the property Rodovid ID (P1185) is presently codified: it points by default to "en.rodovid.org". Epìdosis 08:11, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- OK. Thank you. Rockidata (talk) 08:20, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
Robert Francis Prevost
editA change could also be made to the page of Robert Francis Prevost : a Rodovid record has been created. Thanks. Rockidata (talk) 20:01, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- Done, thanks. Epìdosis 20:04, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
Lavinia Fontana
Una tantum (talk) 08:00, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Una tantum: certamente, Done. Epìdosis 08:07, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Query mismatch Idref and Wikidata
Pingo anche @Alexmar983: --Thomas Kerboul (BGE) (talk) 07:50, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Thomas Kerboul (BGE): grazie mille!
