Mass creation problem edit

Hi, I think something's gone wrong - you seem to be creating several hundred completely blank items, eg Q99776257. Can you please stop the script? Andrew Gray (talk) 15:41, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Completely agree! I don't know how to kill the script. Please let me know, or override for me. Sorry, and thanks! Eyoungstrom (talk) 15:43, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Mahir256: has put a partial block to stop you editing the main namespace for a few hours - that should hopefully shut off the script. Not sure what tool you were using so can't offer more detailed advice though, sorry! Andrew Gray (talk) 15:49, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
THANKS! I was trying to follow instructions Wikidata:Zotero#Use here. I have been in dialog with Thomas Shafee, and was working to follow the steps he pointed me towards.
Here's what I sent to him in an email describing how I got there: I tried following the steps this morning. I believe that I got the translator file copied into the right place, and followed the steps on the Wiki page.
OAuth worked for the old tool (I think) but gave me a “not autoconfirmed” error when I tried to use the new version (still showed me as logged into the Wikidata account, though).
I tried building records for two articles by Teri Bourdeau (following the recommendation to work in small batches until comfortable).
The text copied over, but not separated by [TAB]; each piece was on a separate line. The context looked plausible. I clicked “Do It” and it is generating a loop of errors, “error creating blank item.” I can’t figure out how to abort it. It’s into the 100s of repetitions of same error.
Sorry. I am trying!
I will refrain from making any more attempts until I have gotten more reading & coaching done. Thanks, all! Eyoungstrom (talk) 16:00, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Looks like it is still running. My searches about how to kill the script have not turned anything up. If you have suggestions based on the above details, please let me know. SORRY! and thanks! 16:13, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
I'm not completely sure but the Zotero instructions look like it's all running in QuickStatements. If you're using the "old" QS (this version) then closing the browser tab should kill the batch. If you're using the "new" one (this version) then either closing the tab will work (for a normal batch), or if it was being run in the background, you can stop it by logging in, going to "your last batches", and there'll be an option to stop it there. Yes, was running the old version. I just closed the tab (ironically, I had been keeping it open to see if anything else I was trying had worked). Let me know if that did the trick. Much appreciated. Eyoungstrom (talk) 17:59, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think if it's closed then that should be fine. Can't say for sure it's not still trying until the block expires but it sounds like it'll be OK! Andrew Gray (talk) 18:04, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I've had it work fine when I tested it last month, so I'll have another go and get back to you to see if I find the bug tha cased the blank item issue. It looks as though a dedicated Zotero addon might be developed too, which would (hopefully) be more stable. T.Shafee(evo&evo) (talk) 02:30, 2 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
