Creation edit

It's kind of cool that you take care of all the backlog, but could you leave the requests for at least a week (Wikidata:Property proposal/Latin name)? Thanks.

BTW, I created a series of properties you requested some time ago, you might want to make use of them: Wikidata:Database_reports/age_limits .

Property proposals edit

Hi, Keep up the good work, but please note these changes. If you can adopt some or all of them in your proposals, it will help. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:31, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I have supported the creation of almost all those sports properties that you have proposed. Here are three more that I am myself suggesting: Wikidata:Property proposal/FootballDatabase.eu ID, Wikidata:Property proposal/ITRA ID, Wikidata:Property proposal/UltraSignup ID. They would be useful for different reasons, for example on the French Wikipedia. May you have a look there? Thierry Caro (talk) 01:21, 25 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Unused properties edit

This is a kind reminder that the following properties were created more than six months ago: combustion enthalpy (P2117), solved by (P1136), emissivity (P1295), electrical conductivity (P2055), molar fusion enthalpy (P2066), CDD Public ID (P2086), kinematic viscosity (P2118), angular distance (P2212), NSC number (P2840), specific heat capacity (P2056), molar enthalpy of vaporization (P2116), metallicity (P2227). As of today, these properties are used on less than five items. As the proposer of these properties you probably want to change the unfortunate situation by adding a few statements to items. --Pasleim (talk) 19:12, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Duplicates creation edit

Hi GZWDer, as you haven't answered on Wikidata:Project_chat#Brute_force_creation_makes_other_work: can you confirm that you use the PetScan option that eliminates duplicates when creating new items (Don't use "Select all")? If you haven't done so yet, can you confirm that you will be doing that going forward?
--- Jura 07:53, 22 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your answer and good work.
--- Jura 10:21, 22 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
There seems to be a bug in your bot. Can you explain why Q30604551 was created while we already had Q2324793 (same label in nl as the other has in fr).
--- Jura 18:02, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Same problem with Q30610442 and Q29005732. This created pointless work for Hsarrazin who completed the duplicate item with missing information.
--- Jura 18:06, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
When I work at create missing items for Category:2017 deaths (Q10209335), I found several old pages not connected for a long time. I choose not to ignore any duplicates so that they can be presented at a subpage of Wikidata:Database reports/Deaths at Wikipedia and can be noticed and taken cared of by someone. I may choose to ignore duplicates (i.e. not creating items for pages with an item with same label in some languages) if it's guaranteed that there'll be someone taking care of these items (in every languages), not leaving them unconnected infinitely. Other item creations still ignore duplicates.--GZWDer (talk) 18:26, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Neither of the two died in 2017. If you handle them yourself afterwards or Hsarrazin wants to deal with intentionally created duplicates, I'm fine with it. Otherwise, I think you should leave it to duplicity. Please point me to the approval of your bot for duplicate creation.
--- Jura 07:01, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Jura1: Does Hsarrazin check every Wikipedias?--GZWDer (talk) 10:02, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
She is one of the most regular users (if not the most regular user) of the report, but I don't think she is interested in searching dates for duplicate items. Supposedly you don't intend to do that either. Please provide the link to the approval for the duplicate creation.
--- Jura 10:20, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@GZWDer:
as I work from Recent deaths tool, I check other existing items with the same label when I have a good reason to think it might exist elsewhere (generally people who are not from the country/language of the imported wp)... it's nothing like Duplicity, which allows to automatically check the existence of the same person, and add it directly to the item...
as a matter of fact, I do use EasyQuery gadget to check dates, each time I suspect there could be a duplicate... But I cannot do it on all items. It's much less efficient than Duplicity. This means that it's much more work to find duplicates from my pov (i.e. Recent deaths tool on already imported items) than it is from Petscan/Duplicity. When I perform an import with Petscan, I indeed check the existence of every person in wikidata... you don't, (over 500000 items created by the bot in less than a week !).
your bot litterally flooded the recent deaths reports in the last week, and the work was overwhelming. Please, at least, use Duplicity before mass-creating items from Death date categories... or stop mass-importing from peoples categories... --Hsarrazin (talk) 10:33, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Lexeme & features edit

Hello,

And thanks for the useful comments on Phabricator about the Lexeme data model, the constraints and other things :)

If you want to know more about our plans regarding the implementation of lexemes in Wikidata and the related user interface, I can suggest a meeting or a call with Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) and our UX designer Jan Dittrich (WMDE). Then we can discuss about your ideas and how we could integrate them to the project.

Feel free to reach me if you are interested! Lea Lacroix (WMDE) (talk) 13:16, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Succu: Now filed phab:T169374. I don't think revert is useful as KrBot will add same data without grouping again.--GZWDer (talk) 21:47, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you really want to be useful on persons (Q5) - recently deceased of not... edit

Hello, I see that Chinese is your primary language. If so, you could be very useful on chinese items (i.e. items from zh(xx)wikis).

Please add pinyin to the names of people, and gender also. Also, systematically adding name in native language (P1559) on those items would be a great help.

That would help a lot !... --Hsarrazin (talk) 10:38, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

useless new elements creation edit

You (your bot) just created hundreds (may be hundreds of hundreds) new elements for local wiki categories, that should be connected (for now d'be merged) with existing ones. pls do not create such elements — but connect pages, if you can...--Avatar6 (talk) 18:33, 8 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

New items for categories edit

Hello, I see you are creating new items for categories. How many categories do you estimate are still missing in Wikidata? Emijrp (talk) 10:12, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • As you are using PWB, consider configuring the bot to create items only for categories older than ~10 days (a week + few days), because such items like Q32786009, Q32786010 are useless as the wiki categories are temporary - for problematic files (e.g. unused fair-use / copyvio / no permision) and they will be deleted in a week, and then our admins will have to analyze manually individually all such emty items before deleting them. --XXN, 13:15, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Multichill: please point up what the issue is that lead to disable of the bot. Is it the number of threads or speed of edits? or dispatch lags? and how can it be resolved? (I have read the section at project chat).--GZWDer (talk) 16:57, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate items for svwiki edit

It seems you've mass created new items for svwiki pages which have interwiki links when you should have added the links to the existing items, e.g. a few merges I already did: [1], [2], [3], [4]. Please merge the rest of the duplicates you've created. - Nikki (talk) 08:50, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Viewing constraint violations edit

Judging by this edit you seem to know about the migration of constraints from the talk page to the property page. It used to be easy to view the list of constraint violations. Do you know how to do it after the migration?

By the way, for this particular item, I'm curious about where the minimum value of birth date of around 70 thousand BC came from. Jc3s5h (talk) 16:34, 13 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Soundex edit

Hi GZWDer, I had been a bit skeptical about your proposals when I saw them, but finally, I think they are a good addition to given name items. Thanks! Maybe "reverse soundex" could be of use as well.

New surname items edit

When bot creating new items, please make sure to add the "native label" property with the language code "mul". Do not create them without. This avoids endless discussions about mis-matching labels.

P625 constraint violations edit

Please do check coordinate location (P625) constraint violations during your imports, not all coordinates from wikis are suitable for import. For example it is not a good idea to add coordinate location (P625) to instance of (P31) human (Q5) (like here). Thanks --Jklamo (talk) 11:23, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Again, same for Wikimedia disambiguation page (Q4167410) and more persons (like Joseph Sec (Q3185627). Please do not ignore this message. --Jklamo (talk) 23:52, 2 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

when you mass import for "death date" categories, do not blindly add "Q5" edit

Many projects have a lot of pages in these categories, including animals, and lists of dead people.

Please do not blindly add instance of (P31)->human (Q5) : it makes a mess, very difficult to identify and correct :( --Hsarrazin (talk) 13:19, 10 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

How long does it take for your bot to create a new instance? edit

I’ve noticed that your “(flood)” account creates new entries for new articles, after how long does it create a new entry? And how does it correct an entry after the YiFeiBot migrates links from local projects to Wikidata if it had already created a new entry of an existing instance? Can your bot also merge entries? I'm just asking this out of curiosity as I'm planning on creating a large Wikisource project in the coming months and I wonder how long of a window is provided before your bot creates new entries.
