Gedetailleerdere bron edit

Hoi GeeJee,

GeeJee (talk) 20:03, 29 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Merging items edit

Hallo GeeJee,
When you (want to) merge items, you may want to use the merge.js gadget from help page about merging. It helps with merging and removes the need to file a request on Wikidata:Requests for deletions.

Sculptuur edit

Dag GeeJee

Sculptuur, in het Engels "sculpture" is - citaat Collins Dictionary of English - "a work of art that is produced by carving or shaping stone, wood, clay, or other materials".

Jean Graton edit

Hello GeeJee,

The cartoonist Jean Graton has three sons: Philippe, Jean-Claude and Gurval, but only the first one (Philippe Graton) is mentioned in Wikidata and Wikipedia. How is it possible to enter Jean-Claude (that you deleted) and Gurval (that Wvdp deleted)? I'm not used to Wikidata and I would like to understand how to enter the first names —or whole names (first and last) if possible— of siblings which are not mentioned elsewhere. Could you do it for me? Thank you very much in advance: Tatvam (talk) 16:22, 25 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tatvam. The purpose of this field is to connect with the available items of children of mr Jean Graton, not with items of their first names. It's not a goal to connect to all children and other relatives; this is not a genealogy-database. The only son that has an item in Wikidata is Philippe Graton (Q3379959) because he has relevance for this database as a writer and photographer. GeeJee (talk) 18:25, 25 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Reverts edit

- Robotje (talk) 08:19, 4 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Crested Caracara: request to undo merge edit

Hi GeeJee - unfortunately you wrongly merged Caracara plancus cheriway (Q40455928) into Caracara plancus cheriway (Q1260407); the currently accepted treatment of cheriway is as a subspecies, Caracara plancus cheriway, not a separate species Caracara cheriway. Reference: IOC (scroll down to item 11175). Could you undo your merge, please! - MPF (talk) 23:13, 26 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello MPF. I first have a question for you. You referring to Q40455928 as item for the Caracara plancus cheriway, but in this edit you add de:Karibikkarakara (Caracara cheriway) to this item. And with this edit you connect it to en:Crested caracara (Caracara plancus). Doesn't make sense to me. I understand the 'currently accepted treatment' with a species and two subspecies, but I also see that a lot of the different language-editions of wikipedia still describe the situation with two species. The Dutch wikipedia has three different articles, one for species Caracara plancus and two for the subspecies Caracara plancus plancus and Caracara plancus cheriway, the English wikipedia has one species Caracara plancus (and redirects for the subspecies), the German wikipedia has articles about two species Caracara plancus and Caracara cheriway. How would you match these three different situations to the right Wikidata-items?
Another thing; I see four or five users that are interfering with these items, connecting articles, disconnecting articles, leaving articles with no link to wikidata which triggers a bot to make a new item. Wouldn't it be useful to make a scheme first, which you can refer to? Has there been a discussion already about this? GeeJee (talk) 20:26, 27 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi GeeJee - thanks; that several wikipedias are not up to date is perhaps not surprising, but that shouldn't affect the treatment here; pages referring to Caracara cheriway can still be linked to an up-to-date wikidata item on Caracara plancus cheriway. Doing so would actually be good, as it would act as a reminder that an update is needed on those wikipedias. Not sure if there's been any discussion? I guess what's needed is some sort of alert system that makes it easier to inform users of the taxonomic updates. - MPF (talk) 14:47, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Perudo (Q2023020) and Bluff aka Liar's Dice (Q205906) are the same game edit

This game was created by Richard Borg and published under different names :

  • Doubter’s Dice by Eigenverlag (1986),
  • Liar's Dice published by Milton Bradley (1988)
  • published by F.X. Schmid in 1993 under the name Bluff, it won the Spiel der Jahres 1993. (Since 2001, it is published by Ravensberger)
  • It is also published under the name Perudo in France, Italy Spain, and other countries.

Q2023020 and Q205906 refer to the same game with different titles but a single author (Richard Borg).
It should not be confused with the element "Poker menteur" / Liar's Dice (Q20825977) which is about the family of games --Cbigorgne (talk) 01:26, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Cbigorgne. I think this needs more investigation and sources. There is clearly a difference between the game that is described on fr:Perudo (linked to Q2023020), which is solely a dice game, and de:Bluff (Würfelspiel) (linked to Q205906), which is a board/dice game. In both articles the claim is made that it was developed by Borg in 1993.
Is there a reliable source so we can check which game was published in 1993? By the way, if I look at the articles in different languages connected to Q205906, Q2023020 and Q20825977 I see more differences. You make the claim Q20825977 is about a family of games, but the connected articles de:Liar Dice and fr:Poker menteur describe a single game. pt:Liar's Dice (jogo) (also connected to Q20825977) is the same as fr:Perudo. GeeJee (talk) 11:36, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
HI GeeJee. The boardgamegeek.com page of Perudo ("Perudo: Liars Dice of the Andes - Inca Perudo (1995)") gives Richard Borg as the author.
When I read the rules of Bluff and Perudo, they are nearly the same : in Perudo, the player loses only one dice in each round, whereas in Bluff, they can lose more dices. The board of Bluff is used to follow the progression of the game. It doesn't exit in Perudo. Also the stars on the dices which replace the Aces of the dices are replaced by another image. Another difference is that in the french version of Perudo, players have dices of different colors and in Bluff the payers' dices are all yellow, see Bluff, F.X. Schmid.
I am not sure if Richard Borg is the author of Perudo. So, I am okay with the two games (Perudo and Bluff) having different entries in Wikidata, although it seems that the rules are identical and that only the presentation is different.
There is also the page nl:Blufpoker which is linked to de:Bluff (Würfelspiel), but It seems to describe a different game. I don't know which game it should be linked.--Cbigorgne (talk) 14:14, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
There is also this picture The Classic is back : Liar's Dice which says that Liar's Dace has the original Richard Borg's rules and Bluff and Perudo are variants.--Cbigorgne (talk) 14:35, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Luding.org has three entries with the name Perudo. One by Richard Borg, one by Cosmo Fry and Alfredo Fernandini (public domian) and one by Frank Stark. --Cbigorgne (talk) 17:20, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I have a game of Perudo here (which is only with dice and cups, no board). The manual says copyrighted 1994 by Parker/Hasbro International (I got it in 1996/1997). It also says it's an old Peruvian dice game, played from the Inca time until today. Can't find any real good reliable sources, but this is an interesting discussion about Richard Borg and the origins of Perudo/Liar's Dice/Bluff/Dudo, in which they doubt if it goes all the way back to the Incas. Somewhere there is a remark that Borg added the board to make it more valuable as a game. I saw this video, and the board is used for the bluffing part. In Perudo you have the same bluffing rules, but you just tell each-other.
I assume the Hasbro-version is pretty much a rip off after the success of Liar's Dice. But I think we should make a difference between Liar's Dice/Bluff (game with dice and board) and Perudo (game without board). And yes, Blufpoker is a different game, I will disconnect this from the WIkidata-item. GeeJee (talk) 18:26, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
The Portuguese articles are interesting. pt:Call My Bluff is the (commercial) Richard Borg-version. pt:Liar's Dice (jogo) is described as a public domain-version. GeeJee (talk) 18:34, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata pagina "Theodorus Ignatius Welvaarts" edit

GeeJee (talk) 15:44, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
