Merging edit

Hallo Huldra,
When you merge items, you may want to use the merge.js gadget from help page about merging. It helps with merging, gives the option to always keep the lower number (which is older, so preferable in most cases) and removes the need to file a request on Wikidata:Requests for deletions.
With regards,- cycŋ - (talkcontribslogs) 09:39, 12 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, User:Cycn; I´ve added the "merge" gadget to my preferences, and I will try to learn to use it. But I have to do make do with Wikidata:Requests for deletions today, me thinks, Huldra (talk) 22:13, 12 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I see that it works... - cycŋ - (talkcontribslogs) 15:41, 13 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

P17 for Q575187 edit

Hi, I saw you changed multiple items to use country (P17):Israeli-occupied territories (Q575187) instead of Israel (Q801). Israeli-occupied territories (Q575187) isn't a country and doesn't fit for P17. For places in Israel please use Israel (Q801), for places in Palestine territories please use Palestinian National Authority (Q42620). Thanks, Eran (talk) 17:22, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Well Eran, it is in East Jerusalem; only Israel (and the US?) says that is in Israel the rest of the world say that is in the Israeli occupied Palestinian land. How to you put that into P17? --Huldra (talk) 20:16, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Huldra: I added the other countries that controlled Rockefeller Museum (Q1430185). The museum have interesting material from these times, sometimes with mix of Hebrew/Arabic/English content in the same archive file - so it's good that we are having the conversation and explicitly mention it. If there are other countries that claims control on Rockefeller Museum (Q1430185) or operate the museum you are welcome to add them as well with qualifier to indicate the relevant time and source. Eran (talk) 21:07, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Eran, it should also be Israeli Occupied Palestinian territory since 1967; to only mention this as "Israeli" since 1967 is simply wrong: it makes Wikidata into "Israelidata": not good. --Huldra (talk) 21:12, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
De facto Israel controls this building (maybe there is a qualifier for de facto) or if you disagree you can mark it with statement disputed by (P1310) or one of the similar qualifiers. Eran (talk) 21:18, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have added that it is disputed by the UN; but I find this solution very unsatisfactory,--Huldra (talk) 21:24, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for adding the qualifier, I think such statement describes more accurately the state of places in East Jerusalem. For settlements in the West Bank (Israeli settlement (Q582706)) it is easier to clarify the legal state with instance of (P31):Israeli settlement (Q582706). Eran (talk) 21:51, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

As I said, I am not very happy with it. An attempt on covering such areas is done here: Wikidata:Requests for comment/Countries, subdivisions, and disputed territories, lets see what comes of that, Huldra (talk) 22:23, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── User:Shlomo, This edit its not acceptable: you know that is a "Israel only" view. Shall we leave countries out of it, and just put "East Jerusalem"? --Huldra (talk) 20:24, 15 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate places edit

Hi, when a place is tha same, we generally merge them, not deleted them. ;) Fralambert (talk) 23:06, 11 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:Fralambert thanks, ...but where is the "merge"-page??--Huldra (talk) 22:20, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
This is a gadget. Here the help page Help:Merge. --22:41, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Q433931 edit

Доброго времени суток. Вот вы здесь исправили, а откуда взялось это утверждение: дата смерти: 1940. Потомучто кто-то считает, что 1955. Как знать?

Good time of day or night. Here you corrected it, but where did this statement come from: the date of death: 1940. Because someone thinks it's 1955. But how to know?

Longbowman (talk) 04:31, 12 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

User:Longbowman: at first (=ca 2008) people thouht she died in 1955. But later examination, (mostly by people from Bethlehem) found that she died in 1940; they found her death-certificate from that year. There is a film ofb youtube about it, cheers, Huldra (talk) 22:34, 12 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
