Descriptions edit

Hey J 1982, thanks very much for the edits. Just a little tip, in English descriptions, we only capitalise the beginning if it is a proper noun, see Help:Descriptions for more info. We also usually add "Wikipedia category" as a description if the label begins with "Category:". Hope this helps, happy editing! Delsion23 (talk) 22:52, 22 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

You better add the statement instance of (P31) Wikimedia category (Q4167836) so all languages can read what the item is about. 139.63.60.122 14:13, 23 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sädesslag eller spannmål edit

Hej!

Please stop lying about foreign language titles edit

"The Clown Stays in the Picture" (Q61748990) is the ENGLISH title of the episode. Maybe it will be the title in a few other languages, too. But it neither IS nor WILL be the German or French title so PLEASE STOP adding those fake "titles" because you prevent bots from adding the correct titles when the episodes are available in these countries and get those titles. --92.213.9.132 14:18, 10 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Habo or ? edit

Hi,

I noticed you added the label "Église de Habo" on Hakarp Church (Q10516103) but shouldn't it be "église de Hakarp" (or maybe "église d'Hakarp", not sure how Hakarp is pronunced). I'm guessing it' a confusion with Habo Church (Q116603) but I'm not sure so could you tell me?

fictional professions edit

Hi J 1982, I saw that you created items for various fictional professions like taxi driver (Q78680528), optician (Q78817734) or fictional soldier (Q78817465). Now I'm wondering what the intended purpose of these is. For occupation (P106) statements on items of fictional characters, we use the normal non-fictional professions, since the fact that the character is fictional is already stated in the instance of (P31) statement. In an infobox about Clark Kent (Q867810) for example, his profession would be stated as "reporter", not "fictional reporter". So I'm not sure if duplicating profession items really adds any value. Winter Olympics edit

Hey User:J_1982, a couple of days ago you seem to have messed up apparently all Winter Olympics items, such as here for instance. Winter Olympics are not seasoned events, thus the new P31 value is incorrect and P3450 should not be used. Please also mind that there are a couply of reports which rely on the previous structure; they seem to break now, as for instance Special:Diff/1388948807. Can you please undo those changes? —MisterSynergy (talk) 16:39, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

We need a bot to fix them (since I added seasons for Summer Olympics, Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics). J 1982 (talk) 17:13, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Didn't you make the changes by hand? I think it should be possible to undo it manually as well, then. Setting up a bot is quite a task for such a problem. —MisterSynergy (talk) 19:50, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Massredigering? edit

--Sabelöga (talk) 18:32, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=User:Moebeus/common.js&action=edit

J 1982 (talk) 18:59, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

--Sabelöga (talk) 22:28, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Vill du flytta eller kopiera uttalande inom samma objekt väljer du "to to the same entity".

J 1982 (talk) 09:57, 3 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

:) --Sabelöga (talk) 14:50, 3 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

moving P155 & P156 edit

Is it really necessary to move P155 & P156 like you did for i.e. 2011–12 NHL season (Q1415145)? Creating queries involving those values is simpler without, so I would really prefer if you didn't move them.--Hjart (talk) 18:50, 14 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

It is a standard since long. J 1982 (talk) 19:08, 14 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Creating a query like this
SELECT ?Bodilprisen ?BodilprisenLabel ?forrige ?forrigeLabel ?n_ste ?n_steLabel WHERE {
   SERVICE wikibase:label { bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "[AUTO_LANGUAGE],en". }
   ?Bodilprisen wdt:P179 wd:Q889842.
   OPTIONAL { ?Bodilprisen wdt:P155 ?forrige. }
   OPTIONAL { ?Bodilprisen wdt:P156 ?n_ste. }
 } LIMIT 100
Try it!
is really simple. If you make P155 & P156 qualifiers, it's no longer quite as simple (important for people like me who are not all that smart coders). And for most sports seasons etc. I don't really see the need for making them qualifiers.--Hjart (talk) 19:36, 14 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Hjart and I've readded P155 and P156 as main statements again. QubeCube (talk) 10:31, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Removing followed by/follows statements edit

I noticed you added a follows and followed by as qualifiers (example, and that is all good, but why are you removing the statements that already was there? They are not conflicting so it could easily have stayed. Ainali (talk) 16:51, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

It is a common standard, just take a look att music albums for example. J 1982 (talk) 18:03, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
According to the statistics listed in Property_talk:P156 58% of all uses are still main statements, so it actually isn't quite "common standard". Also note the text "Can be used as qualifier" in the description, not "should". As I noted earlier, main statements are also easier to query, so where it isn't strictly necessary in order to avoid misunderstandings, please don't move to qualifiers.--Hjart (talk) 18:25, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
So far I have spotted no one else than you that are removing perfectly fine statements. Are they messing anything up for you, ie. what is the argument for not having them as main statements? Ainali (talk) 19:04, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Ainali:Various bots were moving a lot of them earlier. See i.e. the history of 1948–49 Danish 1st Division (Q1269790). At one point people apparently thought it was a good idea to move them all.--Hjart (talk) 19:21, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

https://www.netflix.com/se/title/81092958

J 1982 (talk) 14:38, 23 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

No it’s not okay. If there is the possiblity that titles are coming for languages, the original titles shouldn’t be set as title. If its unlikely there will be a translation, it may be okay. If I search with the original title for the episode I will find them, even if it is not set as label. Your approach leeds to errors in Wikidata A) because you are not correcting the episode titles if the title exists in the language [1] B) because you are creating new titles like Cry Havoc, osa 1 (Cry Havoc, Part 1 (Q108664184))) that never existed.

sed -E '1d; s/-[0-9][0-9]-[0-9T:]*Z//g;' query.tsv | gawk -F'\t' 'BEGIN{print "qid,Lsv"} $2 ~ /^Q[1-9]/ {print substr($1,32) ",ettårsperiod " $3 "-" $4}' | xclip

Verna Hills edit

Hello, you recently created Verna Hills (Q109569075), about a songwriter from Boston. Do you think it's the same person as Verna Hills, author of book "Martin And Judy", from West Newbury (Q576891)[1]? There's an entry for such person in the Czech National Library catalogs and I was wondering if I can pair it. Any ideas? Thanks! :)

Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 06:50, 18 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don't know, but I think so, since it mentions West Newbury library. West Newbury in Massachusetts, USA is where Verna Hills was buried. I hope you can find a source. All I know about Verna Hills is that she wrote the song "The Wheels on the Bus". J 1982 (talk) 09:43, 18 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the tip, the burial site is a strong link. It's really most likely her (even based on other indirect evidence) and I'm gonna pair the entries. Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 10:09, 18 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Song vs. single edit

Hi! Since you were involved: what is your take on the single vs. song problem? Zitti e buoni (Q109821000) has been extracted from Zitti e buoni (Q105688468), while leaving all interwikis with the single. But many (most, as far as I can see) linked articles are about the song and not the single. Should the interwiki links now all been split between the two elements? I have done that for dewiki for now, but there would be many more to follow. Similar problem with Deutschland (Q62565108) and probably more, especially if this way of splitting up these elements becomes a standard here on WD. I can only speak for dewiki: song articles must never get a Wikidata short description Single von, as it is not what the article is about.--XanonymusX (talk) 12:14, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Elitserien i Bandy edit

Hej J!

Help:Label/sv. Alltså kan t.ex. elitserier i olika sporter heta just "elitserien".

JoergenB (talk) 21:09, 3 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Tack! JoergenB (talk) 14:39, 8 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Dates on works edit

Dates should really be applied to editions, which have publication data, and not to the works themselves. The data item for a work is for ALL editions of the work, regardless of when they were published. --EncycloPetey (talk) 17:02, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have never heard of that before. J 1982 (talk) 19:01, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

church building vs. Church of Sweden church building edit

Hello J 1982 , i am a german wiki author and i am currently working on a new project of building the lists of cultural monuments of sweden in the german wikipedia (see also). I have divided the lists both by provinces/municipalities and by type of monuments (church monuments, building monuments and archaeological monuments=fornminnen). I am glad that a Swedish-speaking author has become aware of my project/changes and would appreciate help/support. Now I have seen that you have made changes in the description at (Q10593680). What is the meaning of the change Church building instead of Church of Sweden church building and wouldn't all data objects edited so far in the project have to be adjusted then ? Would appreciate a constructive answer, as I would like to expand the project in the near future and would like the support of a "local", as I have some more language related questions. Thanks a lot and best regards from Germany.--Cookroach (talk) 23:11, 3 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Orthodoxe Liturgietage edit

Hej J 1982,

please remove the German labels from Orthodox liturgy dates like May 13 (Q6796246). They are conflicting.--U. M. Owen (talk) 14:16, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Conflicting what? If tha'ts the case, I suggest you contact a bot to remove them.

Invitation to participate in the WQT UI requirements elicitation online workshop edit

Dear J_1982,

I hope you are doing well,

We are a group of researchers from King’s College London working on developing WQT (Wikidata Quality Toolkit), which will support a diverse set of editors in curating and validating Wikidata content.

We are inviting you to participate in an online workshop aimed at understanding the requirements for designing effective and easy-to-use user interfaces (UI) for three tools within WQT that can support the daily activities of Wikidata editors: recommending items to edit based on their personal preferences, finding items that need better references, and generating entity schemas automatically for better item quality.

The main activity during this workshop will be UI mockup sketching. To facilitate this, we encourage you to attend the workshop using a tablet or laptop with PowerPoint installed or any other drawing tools you prefer. This will allow for a more interactive and productive session as we delve into the UI mockup sketching activities.

Participation is completely voluntary. You should only take part if you want to and choosing not to take part will not disadvantage you in any way. However, your cooperation will be valuable for the WQT design. Please note that all data and responses collected during the workshop will be used solely for the purpose of improving the WQT and understanding editor requirements. We will analyze the results in an anonymized form, ensuring your privacy is protected. Personal information will be kept confidential and will be deleted once it has served its purpose in this research.

The online workshop, which will be held on April 5th, should take no more than 3 hours.

If you agree to participate in this workshop, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form to register your interest https://forms.office.com/e/9mrE8rXZVg Then, I will contact you with all the instructions for the workshop.

For more information about my project, please read this page: https://king-s-knowledge-graph-lab.github.io/WikidataQualityToolkit/

If you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me at the email address mentioned above.

Thank you for considering taking part in this project.
