Hi Chris. I was wondering if you could change the license of your videos on YT to a CC-BY license and upload said videos also on Commons. I believe they can be useful on-wiki, too. Thanks! NMaia (talk) 16:04, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Q91336173 edit

This item you created is a duplicate.--GZWDer (talk) 20:32, 4 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks for letting me know. Where is the duplicate item?

The items Q18759234 and Q17019253 relate to two different people.

Any helps would be much appreciated.

Cheers

You have created Q91336173, but it is the same as an existing item Q17019253.--GZWDer (talk) 20:42, 4 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks. I don’t know how this happened: I added this data manually. I appreciate the redirect.

Abbotrule Church (Q17847535) edit

Please do not change the semantic meaning of items. The item Abbotrule Church (Q17847535) was created based on the listed building entry; the item is an item about a church building. I'm well aware that there was at one time a parish of Abbotrule, but the parish was not the church building. The church building item should not be taken over - in terms of its P31 and its label - by a parish.

This is a very basic wikidata concept: Items should be stable, should always retain their semantic meaning. The whole thing goes to hell in a handcart when you start shifting meanings.

If you want to introduce information about the parish, the correct way to do that is to create a new item for the parish, and to link that back to its church.

Please, really, don't ever do that again. --Tagishsimon (talk) 03:51, 22 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for this. Please see my reply to your post about Ellem. I acknowledge your point and that this is bad practice on my part. James nayler is real (talk) 10:09, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ellem edit

Another of the above, where you have made a church building item into a parish item - Ellem Church, church and burial ground (Q56662888) - [diff]. If you see the need for an item for the parish and there is not an existing item for the parish, please create a new item for the parish; do not change the semantics of an item for a building into a parosh. I'll revert your Ellem addition now. --Tagishsimon (talk) 21:43, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message. I agree that this is bad practice on my part. I shall create new items for historic parishes. James nayler is real (talk) 10:08, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
