Logo of Wikidata

Welcome to Wikidata, Joe Decker!

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

  • Introduction – An introduction to the project.
  • Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
  • Community portal – The portal for community members.
  • User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
  • Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.
  • Project chat – Discussions about the project.
  • Tools – A collection of user-developed tools to allow for easier completion of some tasks.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask on Project chat. If you want to try out editing, you can use the sandbox to try. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and become an active editor for Wikidata.

Best regards!

If you're interested edit

While there's no requirement to do this, of course, you might want to make use of the "bulk deletions" option at the top of WD:RFD. If you prefer to stick with RequestDeletion, though, by all means do – you're doing great work. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 23:46, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I'll give that a shot, I'd been sort of peeking through Wikidata:Database_reports/Missing_links/enwiki trying to clean at least some of the easy cases up, for fun and profit. Most appreciated!  :) --Joe Decker (talk) 23:50, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I dig this place, although I've hardly done anything outside of the interwiki arena yet.... Yeah, I see you all over the place, as near as I can tell, you never rest. Have a great weekend!  :) --Joe Decker (talk) 03:45, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hah! I do rest, I have just written intelligent script to reply to user talk page messages ;p ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 10:06, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate data for pear edit

It's both Q434 and Q13099586, but I cannot figure out the UI to merge them (i.e., how do you enter a Commons Category?). Perhaps you can merge them? Thanks! Hike395 (talk) 08:51, 4 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure there shouldn't be separate entries for the tree and fruit, I haven't looked much, but at least I can answer the "how to merge" question.. you simply copy all the properties from one into the other, delete them in the one you took them from, and then make a request to have the emptied entry deleted. (I may be out of date, I've just recently returned from Antarctica and am probably have missed quite a bit!) --Joe Decker (talk) 04:48, 5 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
