Item merging

Hi, saw your request at RfD for deleting a merged item. However, we will create a redirect at the original item after merging the sitelinks and claims into the target item rather than deleting the original item now. You could find more information about merging an item on Help:Merge. I personally recommend using the merge.js (Merge) gadget which you can enable in preferences. Thank you, for your kind 'How to' hints. Well, I tried to merge and got an error message. BTW I have enabled the Merge gadget yesterday. But it didn't work at first attempt. IMHO most necessity to study Help files (which are mostly badly written formal abstracts ;-) ) points to inadequate coding; gadgets should be intuitive, self-evident and easily usable. To the point: if there is a probable 'mistake' an unexperienced user will make, a helpful hint should be coded to pop up and help out. - Might be that I have overlooked such a small detail (e.g. reloading after enabling merge.js ?). OTOH isn't it the most logical path to remove completely an orphaned object that is indeed a dead end street and an error? I looked up the version history and saw it have been bots(!) that produced the mess. Okay, kann ich machen. Ich hatte Werkliste da für sinnvoll gehalten, wo künstlerische/wissenschaftliche Beiträge zu stark arbeitsteiligen, eben nicht singulären Werken anstanden wie Filme, Theater, Musikensembles, Naturwissenschaftsveröffentlichungen. -- Justus Nussbaum (talk) 09:45, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

Ich verstehe den Sinn nicht, da die entsprechenden Werke ja über die entsprechenden Tätigkeiten (Regisseur, Drehbuchautor) ausgelesen werden können. Hier stellt sich auch die Frage, ob die Werkluste als eine Art Filmografie zu sehen ist. Falls nein, dürfte das nur für Regisseure gelten. Queryzo (talk) 15:15, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden

Hallo Justus, danke für den Eintrag Screener (Q40101096). Ich habe das Stück noch nicht gehört, aber die Werke, die mit dem Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden ausgezeichnet wurden, sollten auf jeden Fall dokumentiert werden. Die Eigenschaft "Auftraggeber" habe ich in production company (P272) geändert, da es sich nicht um eine Autorenproduktion handelt. In WP habe ich eine Liste mit den bislang in Wikidata erfassten Hörspielen erstellt: de:Portal:Hörfunk/Wikidata lists/Hörspiele. Gruß --Kolja21 (talk) 15:34, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Hallo Kolja. Erst jetzt komme ich dazu, deine Fragen zu beantworten. Leider sind auch mir durch den zeitlichen Abstand zu meinen damaligen Recherchen manche Details nicht mehr gegenwärtig. Ich erinnere mich allerdings deutlich, dass der WDR als "Auftraggeber" an Derycke herantrat, vergleichbar etwa einer Auftragskomposition für ein Festival oder Jubiläum. Vom Filmbereich weiß ich, dass Auftraggeber und Produktionsgesellschaft grundverschiedene Profile sind, die aber in Wikidata/Wp häufig nicht differenziert angegeben werden. Bei Hörspielen weiß ich nicht genau, wie weit das auseinandergeht. Aus folgender Tabelle des Kriegsblindenbunds geht allerdings hervor, dass Lucas Derycke auch der Regisseur ist. Du irrtest also, als Du annahmst, es sei keine Autorenproduktion. Ich schlage daher vor, jene Änderung deinerseits wieder zurückzunehmen. Mit 'belgisches Hörspiel' verwies ich auf das Ursprungsland Belgien, wo Deryckes Arbeit entstand. Auftraggeber also Kostenträger war indes die WDR-Hörspielabteilung. Ist es daher schon ein dt. Hörspiel? Allein der Sitz des Hauptgeldgebers entscheidet?? Knifflig; außer man betrachtet es operativ von der abrechnungstechnischen Bürokratie her. Der 'belgische Autor' Lucas Derycke hat schließlich seinen Arbeits- und Wohnsitz keineswegs nach Köln verlegt. Aber er hat während der Regiearbeiten mutmaßlich die Räume/Tontechnik des Senders genutzt. Hallo Justus, danke für die ausführliche Antwort. In der von dir angegebenen Liste steht nur "Sender: WDR", aber nicht wer das Stück produziert hat. Als grobe Übersicht ist die Liste brauchbar, aber als zitierfähige Quelle würde ich ARD-Hörspieldatenbank (Q26810976) verwenden. Dort finden sich zuverlässige Angaben, ob es sich um eine Autorenproduktion handelt oder nicht. (Autorenproduktion heißt nicht, dass der Autor Regie geführt, sondern dass er es außerhalb des Senders produziert hat.) Im Rahmen eines Wikipediaartikels wäre es natürlich interessant zu wissen, wo und wann der Autor das Hörspiel geschrieben hat, aber für Wikidata sollte die Beschreibung kurz und eindeutig sein und keine Rätsel aufgeben, denn wenn der WDR ein "belgisches Hörspiel" produziert hat, fragt man sich natürlich als erstes, in welcher Sprache das Werk produziert wurde und ob es auch eine deutsche Fassung von dem Werk gibt. Anders gesagt: Die Details, die du als offen bezeichnest, sind schon seit Jahrzehnten geklärt. I am Kholoud, a researcher at King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018). The information and data that you provide will remain confidential; it will only be stored on the password-protected computer of the researchers. We will use the results anonymized to provide insights into the practices of the editors in item selection processes for editing and publish the results of the study to a research venue. I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits.

Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.

The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.
