Bot Format

Lavallen, I suspect that your bot is not sending the format=json (or any other) format parameters into the wiki. This is very bad because the output is HTML-formatted xml, which is non-parsable. It also means that you most likely do not check for various errors/warnings returned. Please correct if so. Thanks! -- Yurik (talk) 20:56, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

I am using action=setdescription, action=wbsetlabel and action=wbsetaliases and format=xml. I am checking for errors, but when I look at it now, it looks like I wasn't prepared for this kind of error-messages. I will see what I can do. -- Lavallen (block) 08:15, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

As long as I am controlling the code in detail, yes. Otherwise it's impossible to analyse the answers I get. The DotNetWikiBot-framwork can also generate api-questions. I have not controlled how they look like in every detail. I have been sick for some days now. Exjobbare

Hej! En tanke. Om det skulle vara så att du behöver hjälp av någon av våra studenter med något programmeringsjobb eller liknande, hör gärna av dig. Vi har studenter på 2- till 5-åriga datateknikutbildningar av olika slag som behöver examensarbete - alla hittar inte exjobb i näringslivet - och att jobba mot ett sånt här projekt kan vara stimulerande. Jag eller någon av mina kolleger kan vara akademisk handledare. Ja, botjobb är tveksamt för exjobbare, ingen botägare skulle låta studenter härja fritt i sin botkod av säkerhetsskäl. Möjligen skulle studenter kunna utveckla av generell bot av något slag, som de kan testa mot en egen mediawikiserver. Och de skulle kunna utveckla mobil-appar (t.ex. till Andrés k-samsök), wikidataklient för att visa och redigera tabeller, Mediawiki-gadgets, mediawiki-extensions, mm. En automatisk portning av data från k-samsök och olika tabeller på webben och i PDF-filer till Wikidata vore intressant. Tror du man skulle kunna integrera ett öppen källkodssystem för en:online spreadsheets med Wikidata, för att visa, sortera, filtrera och söka i tabeller, för att automatiskt generera plottar och för att redigera och importera tabeller från externa källor? Är ideerna felaktiga eller orimliga, eller finns det något i detta att bygga vidare på? Mange01 (talk) 17:13, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Det vore nog någonting att titta på. Intressant nog redigerar jag nu här genom att låta roboten bygga csv-filer som jag sedan letar igenom i OpenOffice innan jag kopierar över dem i en txt-fil som en annan kod lägger ut. Ang att låta någon annan "härja i sin botkod" så är den botkod jag bygger mitt arbete på här kanske inte "fri", men den är åtminstone öppen för förbättringar. Sånt här är spännande. Men för att studenter ska göra bra ifrån sig bör de jobba med ett väldigt avgränsat och tydligt specificerat uppdrag, för en uppgdragsgivare. Jag är inte tillräckligt insatt i detaljerna för att formulera en sådan just nu, även om jag har endel idéer på mer övergripande nivå. Mange01 (talk) 13:20, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Re: Two questions, one header

Hi, Lavallen. Two answers:

1. In the template en:Template:Infobox planet there is the parameter orbit_diagram, but is poorly used and sometimes the orbit illustration is used as main image of the asteroid/satellite. Perhaps we can use a qualifier to distinguish main images and orbit illustrations, but for roads there is the property road map. Probably it is better try to propose a new property (I'm agree to have it) and follow the suggestions of the community.
2. Aliases and property are different things: the first cannot have sources or qualifiers and perhaps cannot be used in queries (but I need to verify this!). Since there is consensus to have a generic property for "official names", my idea is to propose a property for "temporary designation"s in the astronomic section.

Hello, there seems to be inconsistancies in Q10553927. The English (and, it seems, the Finnish) articles are about a type of subdivision of Finland that existed between 1865 and 1977, while the Swedish article seems more general. --Zolo (talk) 06:10, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Sveriges landsting

Hello! I am just looking at item Q1754161, and reading the English version which says that "A county council, in Swedish landstingsfullmäktige, is an elected assembly..." which would mean it is an organization, and not a term. But, perhaps the Swedish article describes it differently? Danrok (talk) 23:57, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

It is possible that I have missunderstood how p107 should be used in cases like this but, each of the ~20 county counsils are an organisation, yes. But the article/item with the description of them are not an organisation in itself, but it is possible we should use 'p107:org' in the desc-item to. Since these orgs are at the same time a municipality (do not let the english name fool you to belive they are a county), maybe they should be regarded as 'geographic features'? But the problem with that is that they are non-geographic to their very nature. They are a complement to the other municipalities, named 'kommun' in Swedish. A county counsil are responsible for health and a few other things, while the kommun is responsible for a lot of other things. (Almost) every sweede is therefor a subject to two municipalities. The exception is they who live in a 'kommun' who is responsible for both tasks. That has been the case in several 'kommun' during history, but today it only affect those who live in Gotland. -- Lavallen (block) 06:15, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
