Rollback? edit

Hey, I see you've been reverting some vandalism around here -- thanks! Would you like rollback rights to help with this? -- Ajraddatz (talk) 11:36, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Ajraddatz: I wouldn't mind! It will make things easier for me too :) (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 11:36, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Done, and thanks again for your assistance. -- Ajraddatz (talk) 11:37, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Elevations taken from ceb.wiki edit

Hi 大诺史, I saw that you reverted an edit of mine erasing a statement about the elevation of "Monte Camicia" (Q929442). I'd like to explain why I did it.

There is a general problem with lots of mountain articles on wikidata: the elevation taken from the article on ceb.wiki is totally wrong.

You can see here that ceb.wiki reports in its infobox 2 elavations for the mountain (1,918 and 2,564 m). The correct one is the latter (as stated on it.wiki, here), but the robot that uploaded the elevations from ceb.wiki took the first one (1,918 m).

Do you think is possible to do something to solve this (i.e. making a bot to erase all the mountain elevations taken from ceb.wiki on wikidata)? --158.102.162.35 08:58, 27 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations, Dear Administrator! edit

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our gift is better than the one at Commons or Meta)

Here's your badge: {{User admin}}/{{#babel:admin}} and {{Admin topicon}}. Enjoy!

Congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Wikidata. Please take a moment to read the Wikidata:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Wikidata:Project chat, Wikidata:Requests for comment, and Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikidata-admin @ irc.freenode.net. If you need access, you can flag someone down at #wikidata @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Wikidata:Guide to Adminship to be useful reading. You may also want to consider adding yourself to meta:Template:Wikidata/Ambassadors, and to any similar page on your home wiki if one exists. (Check Wikipedia:Wikidata/Wikidatans (Q14964498).)

Please also add/update the languages you speak to your listing at Wikidata:List of administrators and Wikidata:Administrators/Timeline. You may also like to add your username to this list if you would not like that items you delete at RfD get marked as deleted automatically. Again, welcome to the admin corps!

Deletion Requests edit

Since you're an administrator, you can just remove items like Q106427966. If someone is so obviously not notable, no need to go through a Deletion Request. Mbch331 (talk) 08:44, 9 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Mbch331: Noted. Thanks. --Minorax (talk) 00:23, 10 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Deletion for Q106678251 edit

Hello sir! You have deleted a notable wikidata of Q106678251 but he is a notable musician and promoter in our country Uganda. Try to search Promoter Musa on Google search. He is verified on Facebook, Google, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, even Promoter Musa was the first Ugandan promoter to appear on Billboard magazine article after publishing the lyrics of Gooba by 6ix9ine https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/lyrics/9380672/6ix9ine-gooba-lyrics

Please am humbly requesting you to recover it again or don’t delete his wikidata account again. Thank you Abatunonya (talk) 12:47, 3 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Abatunonya: You've created countless accounts to promote this person and countless admins have been deleting it cross-wiki due to lack of notability. --Minorax (talk) 13:40, 3 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Now! What I can do about this issue of deleting his wikidata page? Abatunonya (talk) 19:40, 3 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Abatunonya: I urge that you stop going crosswiki and attempt to create pages about him. --Minorax (talk) 04:40, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Congrats edit

Hi. I just noticed you have become an admin here, congratulations. I am happy to know that, although I have no admin requests, for the time being. However as two former Cs comrades I want to ask help from you at a place where I am not active any more. (However that does not mean I will leave unattended several things I have contributed there, right? :) Somebody simply stripped off "Category:Elif Gökalp" from the artist (soprano) to whom it belonged and "created" (I have to express it some way) a cat for another "Elif Gökalp". I know that many people do not care about classical music nor sopranos, and prefer a cute face that reads a text -written by others- on the screen. I do not know which are your preferences, however I know very well that you do care for Cs. Therefore, I kindly request you to please revert the edits that stole the page history of a cat -that I had initiated for an artist four years ago- and credited it to someone who has nothing to do with the cat I created. Once you revert the semi-vandalism of course the cat I initiated may be moved to another name (like "Category:Elif Gökalp (soprano)" but without losing its page history), and the other person may also have a cat with a more neutral name, like "Category:Elif Gökalp (presenter)", creating a disam page under the title "Category:Elif Gökalp". Do you think you can spare a few minutes to do this favour to me and to the institutional culture of Cs not to lose page histories? Thanks in advance and best regards. --E4024 (talk) 19:15, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • P.D. Look at the poor "Category:Elif Gökalp (soprano)" at the moment; no infobox, no cats... Indeed this is why I used the word "semi-vandalism". (Note: You cannot look at it because it was deleted.)
@E4024: can you please summarise on what you want me to do? --Minorax (talk) 04:53, 5 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
1. "Category:Elif Gökalp" was robbed from the artist (vandal attack on classical music). Revert it. --E4024 (talk) 12:46, 5 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I've moved the newer one to c:Category:Elif Gökalp (presenter). --Minorax (talk) 04:14, 6 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Strange merge edit

Hi,

I'm not sure why did you merged Philip of Montfort (Q107045046) (the daughter) with Philip of Montfort (Q1369298) (the father). Is there something I missed or is it just an honest mistake from your part?

Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 15:19, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

@VIGNERON: Seems to be a mistake. Undid my edits at Q107044908 instead as the creator created 3 duplicate items. --Minorax (talk) 16:01, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ah I see, I didn't noticed the duplicates created by @JLavigne508:. Thanks. I improved a bit this item, it's not perfect but it's better now. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 16:22, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes that is all jumbled up. If you are going to try to clear it up please take note that there are two Phillips of Montfort from the same time and era which is abnormally confusing, the Lord of Tyre and the Lord of Castres (see their English and French Wikipedia articles). To make it more confusing, Phillip of Montfort, Lord of Castres had a daughter named with both Philippe and Philippine names in French.--JLavigne508 (talk) 08:37, 1 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Q108129187 edit

It appears you've deleted the page about scientific researcher Helena Balabin Helena Balabin (Q108129187) and referenced the notability policy. I read this policy and disagree with your assessment, as it fulfilled two out of the three minimum criteria on this page:

> It refers to an instance of a clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity. The entity must be notable, in the sense that it can be described using serious and publicly available references.

This page did in fact point to the external links for ORCiD, the golden standard for researchers, in a way such that it unambiguously defined this researcher.

> It fulfills a structural need, for example: it is needed to make statements made in other items more useful.

This page was necessary to annotate this researcher's contribution to The COVID-19 Ontology (Q104513823) (and as of today, STonKGs: A Sophisticated Transformer Trained on Biomedical Text and Knowledge Graphs (Q108146683)).

Interestingly, I asked this researcher to create an entry for both herself and her advisor. She included the same amount of metadata in both, but I do not believe the page for her advisor was delete for the same reason.

I request that you reinstate the page, and also reconsider the negative impact that this choice might have on young researchers with more limited profiles when making future edits, especially if you do not create a discussion first.

Cthoyt (talk) 06:32, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Cthoyt:   Undeleted. The reason I deleted that as it appears to be a case of self-promotion. However, I do admit that it's my fault for not digging deeper into it. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 06:50, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Minorax: Much appreciated, thanks. Overall, I think anyone that has an ORCiD identifiers should be fair game on Wikidata, especially since there's the Scholia tool that people might be interested in using.
On Twitter people are actively encouraged to create and or update their QID with more identifiers and more links to publications. Self promotion is not an issue when people have an ORCiD particularly when there are publications connected. Thanks, GerardM (talk) 08:38, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your edits on EO wiktionary edit

Thank you for your contributions. You changed

<font color="red">seruro; fermi per seruro</font> --> <span style="color:red;">seruro; fermi per seruro</span> as well as some dashes on 12 article namespace pages.

There are 58 such pages left in article NS, most of them of low value and 27 such pages left in appendix NS, most of them very valuable and huge.

  • Is there some official deprecation policy requiring "<font>" to be removed?
  • Did you edit manually, or with the help of a bot?

I have a bot who will be happy to edit those 85 pages once the optimal solution has been determined. Your edit adds 7 octets of bloat per occurrence, which is less desirable on those huge appendix pages. One could create a template

{{r|seruro; fermi per seruro}}

, this would reduce the pre-expand bloat but increase the post-expand bloat. Can we get something like this:

<span class="r">seruro; fermi per seruro</span>

? Unfortunately I lack the right to edit CSS and we do not have any interface administrator. I can see that you are sysop almost everywhere, but not interface administrator anywhere. :-( Taylor 49 (talk) 07:14, 7 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Taylor 49: Hello. There is no official depreciation policy to convert <font> into <span> and I did those edits manually. I have little knowledge of CSS, as such, I am not comfortably in helping with it. Sorry. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 10:43, 7 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

A question edit

Hello Minorax, I am Kadıköylü, patroller from Trwiki. Is this a valid reason for reverting my edit? Could you help me? Kind regards.--Kadıköylü (talk) 22:07, 18 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Kadıköylü: Sort of. The image you changed to seems edited and the original definitely looks better. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 01:30, 19 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users edit

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Deletion of Q107648742 edit

Hi, you deleted Q107648742 – are you sure about that? I came to a different conclusion in August but of course I might have missed something. --Emu (talk) 13:26, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Emu: Hello and thanks for reaching out for this. Here's what I considered before coming to the conclusion of deleting the item.
  1. Twitter account has close to 80k followers but the viewcount for the tweets is roughly around 100+.
  2. Instagram account has 181k followers and only have an 0.5% engagement rate.
  3. User who created the item matches the entity mentioned.
As you've said, you've came to a different conclusion so if you think that the item shouldn't be deleted, feel free to restore it. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 09:09, 27 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, yes, I agree that there is in all probability no WD:N #2 notability, but I see a #3 notability in relation to w:en:Jio Platforms so I restored it. Thank you! --Emu (talk) 21:12, 28 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
