Registering Art on wikidata - Q107345100

Hi Multichill  ! I would like to know if you could give me an orientation about a metadata to register art objects in wikidata. I would like to declare that the https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q107345100 is from the style/period "contemporary art" but I can't find a proper property to use, I have already looked on Wikidataprojets and I didn´t find anything. I´m sorry if it´s not a question to ask you, but since you correct one mistake I did in this item I thought maybe you could know how to do that. I used VRA-Core metadata to catalogue this art piece and now I´m trying to adjust it to wikidata. Thank you very much!Lilian Viana (talk) 20:01, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

@Lilian Viana: contemporary art (Q186030) should generally be avoided because it basically applies to any art produced during our lifetime. It's better to add the more specific movement, en:Contemporary_art#History is a good starting point for this. Of course to be able to add that to movement (P135), it should be known and somehow sourced. That's not easy at all. Multichill (talk) 13:11, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi Multichill! Thank you for answering me and also for sent me the link en:Contemporary_art#History. It will help me! In the library I work on, we use Contemporary art according to Getty vocabulary http://www.getty.edu/vow/AATFullDisplay?find=&logic=AND&note=&subjectid=300264737 . We know it's general but sometimes we can not identify a specific movement and in this situation we prefer to identify it as contemporary art, as Getty defines it. Acquisition date

I am starting to play around with this as yet another provenance-related field and I noticed this edit by your bot. I get why but Ithink the founding date of the institution is a better default. In the Rijksmuseum 1910 catalog there are some (rare) mentions of when local guilds transferred art management and I will probably work my way through some of the larger of these by hand, but just as a heads up if you can fix this going forward. official website (P856)

about the usage I am not convinced. I asked Jarekt already for help as described at URL (P973) Q12076093 is not shown in this file on commons. By using P856 one gets the main/official museum's reference into the wikidata infobox, which is very practical.--Oursana (talk) 13:32, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

It's incorrect to use official website (P856) on artworks. Looks at the property, this is not the one to use. Established practice is documented on Wikidata:WikiProject Visual arts/Item structure.
I would recommend you read Help:Ranking especially the part about the deprecated rank. A statement set to deprecated generally doesn't show up in any infobox. Multichill (talk) 16:41, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
sorry, for official website (P856) I do not see any established practise and as I said it is very helpful to use it with the infobox, where refs are not shown.
Perhaps you can help here ( I also asked Jarekt): with Galleria Borghese, by origin (part) from the Collection Borghese. For all items it shows Louvre, even after I deleted the historical French part at collection borghese. Please see as example the file of The Rape of Proserpina (Q2352789). Thanks for your tip, I did. I am quite familiar with the ranks. --Oursana (talk) 02:04, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

So tired

Why? The german Name is "Hoppin-Maler". This is just the italian name, why it should make any sense, this name use per default for all other languages? And this is soooooo often. -- Marcus Cyron (talk) 18:19, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

The feeling is mutual. Multichill (talk) 18:44, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
I was not realy interested in feelings. I would like to have answers for edits like these. You add per Bot, that this is a man. And you give a source. But this source clearly states: "Gender: unknown". In every data set I have to clear up the mstakes yout bot made. Really in EVERY Q depending ancient vase painters and potters. Und now I am interested in your feelings. Why this feeling is mutual to you? Because someone ask you about this? Really? You made these mistakes, YOU should fix them. But at the end others have to do the work. And this frustrates so much. This is work, that not must exists. Everybody can make mistakes. But everybody also should fix them afterwards. -- Marcus Cyron (talk) 05:19, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
