Welcome to Wikidata, Olaf Kosinsky!

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

  • Introduction – An introduction to the project.
  • Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
  • Community portal – The portal for community members.
  • User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
  • Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.
  • Project chat – Discussions about the project.
  • Tools – A collection of user-developed tools to allow for easier completion of some tasks.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask on Project chat. If you want to try out editing, you can use the sandbox to try. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and become an active editor for Wikidata.

Best regards! --Tobias1984 (talk) 09:36, 26 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Simple English edit

"simple" isn't valid language code (although it's possible to insert it). Please disable your QuickStatements batches. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 12:34, 4 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Languages spoken, written, or signed edit

Please stop using quick statements through WiDar to add English as a person's languages spoken, written or signed (P1412), just because they have an article on the English Wikipedia. You have done this for multiple French Canadians whose documented language was French. Some of these edits I reverted, and now you are repeating to make them over again. Thank you. — Dcflyer (talk) 09:45, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Wrong label in Q43379706 edit

Hi Olaf, you've added Kevin Kühnert as a Danish label to Q43379706 with a bot. I changed that back, I was just wondering where it got that information. Probably based on vandalism in some article? (Totally unrelated: Thanks for all your pictures.)--176.198.185.170 13:10, 9 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

In QuickStatements batch 12145 each item had a label added that was intended for the next item in the list. I have corrected a few but it looks like more than 2,000 items have had the wrong labels added. Peter James (talk) 13:48, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please merge instead of blanking edit

Thank you for your work in maintaining Wikidata. I have a small suggestion to improve your future work. If you notice that two items are duplicates, please merge them instead of blanking one of them as you did with the page Q55338828. External sites use Wikidata identifiers, so it is important that we preserve the chain of references. See Help:Merge for more information on how to do this, and consider installing the Merge Gadget. Thanks! Bovlb (talk) 21:53, 27 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please merge instead of blanking edit

Thank you for your work in maintaining Wikidata. I have a small suggestion to improve your future work. If you notice that two items are duplicates, please merge them instead of blanking one of them as you did with the page Q95189318. External sites use Wikidata identifiers, so it is important that we preserve the chain of references. We do this by making one item a redirect for the other. In particular, item ids are intended to be a permanent identifier, so we never reuse them for another concept. See Help:Merge for more information on how to merge items, and consider installing the Merge Gadget. Thanks! Bovlb (talk) 20:08, 27 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Bovlb. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Q55845871 because it didn't appear constructive. Feel free to use the sandbox for test edits. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Bovlb (talk) 20:52, 27 June 2020 (UTC) --Bovlb (talk) 20:52, 27 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for your advice. I have created a new article and then didn't think that there is already an entry at Wikidata.--Olaf Kosinsky (talk) 08:20, 28 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

--Hogü-456 (talk) 13:51, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
