Hello ! I asked for the suppression of Q10404168 which has been created by mistake (the correct element already existed) and was never developed (empty element, not even the definition was given, only an incorrect link to a wikipedia page). I corrected all the pages and links. You did first a fusion (Ok, although quite frankly for an obviously mistaken creation, I am not convinced). But now you have created a redirection. This I really do not understand. for me Q10404168 should be suppressed, it creates a potential confusion. Can you explain it, please ? Thank you in advance.

Shinnin (talkcontribs)

Q10404168 was created in 2013 and has existed for six years. It might be in used outside of Wikidata. Whether or not it was developed is not relevant. We need the redirect to make sure everyone who has been using Q10404168 will find their way to a correct item.

Thank you. I am a bit terrified by this choice, but I understand that it has been done a long time ago. All the best,

Finnish has multiple infinitives, so should the form be marked as first infinitive perhaps?

Shinnin (talkcontribs)

You are right. The infinitives need need to be described with more detail than just {{Q|Q179230}}. However, I seem to be unable to find items to do so. We probably need to create few more items to properly model infinitives.

Rua (talkcontribs)

I have worked with other Finnic languages as well, and I'm wondering if the notion of numbered infinitives can be applied to those languages too, or just to Finnish. I know that Estonian has a "ma" and a "da" infinitive, corresponding to the Finnish third and first respectively. Veps has first, second and third infinitives, at least according to Wikipedia. So if there are going to be new items, they should probably labelled in such a way that they can be reused for multiple languages.

Hi Shinnin,

I noticed occasionally you add the above property. I thought you might be interested in the similar Wikidata:Property_proposal/list_combines_topics. I find it would be an improvement over the existing properties and could help putting the lists to better use.

Happy to help.

Thanks for your help with Petscan stuff. More though

I presume that it is not possible to add qualifiers when adding statements, eg. when saying "described by source" that I cannot give the "stated in" component. at the same time, instead I have to go and find another tool to do this, or manually.

Shinnin (talkcontribs)

I don't think it's possible to add qualifiers or sources using Petscan. QuickStatements is the right tool for that.
