Merging items

Hallo Spinster,

For merging items, you may want to use the merge.js gadget from help page about merging. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically place a request to delete the emptied page. This way of nominating makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

Hello Cycn! Thanks for this valuable tip. I will take a look. I have been doing lots of WiDaR-supported edits lately via Wikidata - The Game. Would these be problematic? If so, it might be worth mentioning to Magnus. Spinster (talk) 07:02, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Normally that would be fine, but it seems to fail in a small part of the case and because of the large total number of edits this really clogs up the Wikidata:Requests for deletions page right now. I hope the creator of Magnus is able to fix that in the near future, because it seems a very helpful tool if it would work without this bug. ULAN

Hoi Sandra, ben een klein Union List of Artist Names ID (P245) en Nationale Thesaurus voor Auteursnamen ID (P1006) inhaalslagje aan het doen. Voor ULAN heb ik nu zo'n 5000 nieuwe links toegevoegd en dat zal nog wel even doorgaan. Had je User:Multichill/Rijksmuseum creators RKD trouwens gezien? Is een rapportje van de schilders in het Rijksmuseum gecombineerd met authority control. Multichill (talk) 22:12, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Handmatig heeft zeker wel zin. Wij zijn hier namelijk verre van compleet wat betreft viaf en ik denk niet dat elk ULAN record ook al aan een viaf zit. Denk dat het wel verstandig is om even te wachten tot de bot klaar is. Dan doe je daar in ieder geval geen dubbel werk. RKDartists is ook nog een hoop te doen! Import is klaar. De Union List of Artist Names ID (P245) staat nu op zo'n 30.000 en Nationale Thesaurus voor Auteursnamen ID (P1006) zelfs op 120.000.

Er is nog genoeg te doen zie ik al zo. Ik zat door mijn to do lijstjes heen te klikken en dat was nog steeds prijsschieten. Multichill (talk) 10:43, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! Intussen heeft Magnus ook de DBNL-auteurs aan Mix'n'match toegevoegd, dat had je volgens mij al gezien. Kan daar ook e.e.a. via een bot gebeuren? Het matchen gaat vrij makkelijk en snel handmatig. Spinster (talk) 10:56, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Voor Union List of Artist Names ID (P245) en Nationale Thesaurus voor Auteursnamen ID (P1006) had ik een dataset met daarin viaf id -> die andere id's. Dus dat kon ik vergelijken met viaf id's hier en aan elkaar koppelen. Voor DBNL heb ik nog niet zo'n dataset gezien dus dat kan ik niet automatisch doen. Heb nog wel een vraagje. De tool is nu klaar met pruttelen en ik krijg 240 items terug. Is er een reden dat je hier nog geen instance of (P31) -> painting (Q3305213) aan hebt toegevoegd? Multichill (talk) 17:27, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

Omdat ik ze liever zo als to do lijst bewaar en 1 voor 1 handmatig doe. Dat gaat langzaam, maar wel grondig: ik doe wat research, check soms (niet altijd) of er niet gemerged moet worden met een reeds bestaand item, en vul zoveel mogelijk properties in per item. Misschien ga ik ze na een tijdje wel meer in bulk bewerken als het saai wordt of te lang duurt... Spinster (talk) 18:01, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

Ah, zoiets vermoedde ik al. Ik zou gewoon het schilderij gedeelte eraan toevoegen en ergens een lijstje in een hoekje bewaren. Dan loop je het risico dat anderen je al geholpen hebben voordat je bij een schilderij komt. Multichill (talk) 15:51, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Nou vooruit dan ;-p Al doet het mijn tere zieltje pijn om ze zo ontzettend onvolledig en verder property-loos te hebben (+ er is best veel kans dat een deeltje ervan niet een schilderij is, maar een tekening of een pastel of een serie of iets anders)... Spinster (talk) 16:12, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

RKD cleanup

Thanks for cleaning up. I'm too trying to keep things in sync with Mix'n'match, but sometimes there are too many "new" matches to transport to wikidata to check them individually beforehand and also when importing matches from wikidata my impression is that exactly one of them is shown under "recent changes" and nothing more. (These all then are attributed to the person perfoming the transfer...). So please don't feel offended by actions which may give the impression of complete cluelessness or, worse, ruthless ignorance. -- Gymel (talk) 23:00, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

I was a little bit annoyed because I had just spent quite a bit of research on those specific people ;-) and I do notice that Mix'n'Match needs some updates here and there. Hi Martsniez, ping @Multichill: I think the message looks good. But my original feedback stands: I think this information does not belong on Wikidata - and I expect that the community will tell you that, too. Don't take my word on this, it will produce valuable feedback for you if you do post the proposal via the official route on Wikidata and ask for tips from the community. Leidse hoogleraren

Hoi Spinster, Ik zie net dat je in Mix-n-match bezig bent met het koppelen van Leidse hoogleraren. Is je ook opgevallen dat er binnenkort een property voor zal komen? Zie Wikidata:Property proposal/Authority control#Leidse Hoogleraren identificatiecode. Misschien was het handiger als we die property gelijk hadden kunnen koppelen... Achteraf kan ook hoor, maar dit voelt een beetje als dubbel werk. Aan de andere kant is het als jij de items al hebt gekoppeld ook zo voor elkaar. Hoi Lymantria, dat had ik inderdaad niet door! Maar, geen man overboord, met de resultaten uit Mix'n'Match kunnen we inderdaad heel makkelijk die property dan opvullen. Jazeker. Ik ben veel aan het mix'n'matchen de laatste tijd. En dan vind ik dit soort onderwerpen leuk. Ik zag idd dat je al bezig was geweest met Utrechtse profs. De Groningse staan er al wat langer.
