Hi GZWDer, Multichill made this on nl.wiki. I am simply spreading it to different projects, since I found it very usefull (with permission :). As far as I know he wants to introduce it on en.wiki. Hi Madalberta, thank you for letting me know. The problem here was that the article already had it's own item. Because articles can only be used on one item at a time "Cinco minutos de gloria" could not be added to "Five Minutes of Heaven" as well. I have merged the two items and created a redirect. Hi Jcfidy, they are different. Q3190566 is about a plant (= es:Plantae). Q107211 is about the fabric (= es:Textil). Like es:Cereal and es:Pan they are not the same. I cannot merge them. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 10:09, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

About a deleted category and other category names

Hi Taketa, "Kategori:No local image and no image on Wikidata" deleted by an admin in Turkish wikipedia, I think that's wrong. Maybe you want to care that category and others. the problem is not just you but is a general problem. People who use Internet Explorer on Wikidata get an error message. You can try Chrome or Firefox instead, or wait a little while until the problem is resolved. For more information see Wikidata:Project_chat#Problems_with_IE.

Global images initiative; on english

hi, love the Global images initiative. however, recently on english wikipedia, the category started including geo-stubs, which appear to have an image. see en:Category:No local image but image on Wikidata. there are around 4000 biographies mixed in there with the 20000 geo-stubs. please advise. Dear Slowking4, thank you for your message. I am glad to hear you like the images initiative! When I started on the English Wikipedia, I only included biographies as an easy test. People must be adding the template to new geography related templates, which would explain the new articles [1]. See here for all templates. This should not be a problem. If it is a problem, you could consider splitting the category into two. Make one for biographies, and one for other topics. Here is an example of the split I made on the Dutch Wikipedia, seperating soccer players from other biographies [2]. If you want, I can assist with a split, though I would need a few weeks, as I am a bit busy at the moment. Though, I notice you are blocked on enwiki, so it should not be necessary for you personally I assume. Anyways, I hope this helps. If not, please specify the problem you see and your expectations. All he seems to do is post his signature in a dozen projects. He is blocked already in several projects for this reason. As such, I have blocked the account. Dear Jura, I deleted it on purpose. I did not suppress the log. The deletion log should be visible as far as I know. I can see the log at least [3]. I deleted it because the only wikilink was deleted on enwiki due to lack of references [4]. Since the item did not contain any other links or references it no longer meet the notability criteria. BTw, if you look at the deletion log of another admin, the label of the deleted item is included [5]. This avoids having to ask them. I am Kholoud, a researcher at King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Usually an article about a person says something that is special and why the article exists. These articles do not. As such, they seem promotional. Thanks for letting me know. I won't use promotional references for sure. And I'm sure that we're not creating an encyclopedic Wikipedia article for him, it's just a database project beyond Wikimedia which cares about true knowledge I believe. I saw his name in the newspaper so I thought he's worth being added to the base. Because it mentions that he was a shoe designer for many well-known brands in Turkey such as Kemal Tanca, etc which makes him special, and continues his career at his very own venture as a consultant and designer/programmer. More than one source should be enough to clear items' public identifications, right? How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits.

The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.

Had a daughter in July and started on a project on nlwiki in October where I have written 600 new articles in the last four months. My admin activity here dropped off. It has been a nice 10 years.
