Wikidata:Bodh
Bodh is a tool that helps users to add statements to Wikidata lexemes, senses and forms and edit them, if required. The idea of the tool is largely inspired from Tabernacle created by Magnus Manske. Bodh presents lexicographical data in tabular format generated from SPARQL queries or from manual lists and thus helps users to fill up lexicographical data gaps or correct already existing erroneous data by easily identifying them.
The tool was developed by Jay (CIS-A2K) and Bodhisattwa (CIS-A2K) as an assignment from CIS-A2K. The name of the tool Bodh is coined by Tito (CIS-A2K) borrowing from the Sanskrit word बोध (L525390) (IPA: boːd̪ʱ) which means knowledge, intelligence, perception or cognition etc. The word is used in many Indian languages.
Generate lists edit
Users can generate list of lexemes on Bodh using any of the following two ways:
- SPARQL query - Users can enter SPARQL code into the given query box and generate a list.
- Manual lists - Users can also enter one LID per line.
Choose work area edit
Users are also given option to choose if they want to work on the lemma proper or its sense or form portion. Choosing from the three options enable users to filter out the work area they want and exclude the other two options. Thus the tool helps to create a tidy environment to work.
View and edit data edit
After the work area is chosen, users can enter relevant properties in the form of PIDs at the "Columns" section. After adding the PIDs, it is needed to click enter. Please note only the relevant properties related to lexicographical data can be entered. After all the necessary properties are added, the "Start" button needs to be clicked to view the list of lexemes and the corresponding values of the selected properties in tabular form. User can now add or edit data at the boxes meant for values. Values can be entered by adding the Wikidata IDs or by typing texts. If users type texts, the tool will search QIDs or LIDs and display them for reference. If the value is an item, the tool will display the description of that item in the language selected, whereas if the value is a lexeme, the tool will display the language of the lexeme, so that users can better identify the correct values.
