Motivation edit
The each of the team pages under AFL.com.au were recently upgraded, which broke all of the links which were previously automated using the en:Template:AFL_player templates from the player pages based solely on the player's name. Now there is a number and the name (the name in the URL is actually superfluous, any text works). This ID will allow me to rewrite those templates to fix the links. Note that the player retains the same number when changing teams - see Saints or Fremantle, so I don't think that it should be separated into 18 separate team based IDs. The ID numbers are not duplicated across teams. I have scraped each of the 18 club websites and parsed out all 1250 AFL and AFLW IDs. Note that this includes players yet to make their debut (so do not yet have an article), so there won't be 1250 uses of this property, and it will always be incomplete. I have linked about 1000 so far in my spreadsheet. Once it's created I'll use quick statements to upload the list, having used Petscan to create a player article - WikiData Item list.
