Motivation edit

Many records of GLAM are identified by an ARK, but I concern people may confuse the ARK of an object and ARK of a specific image.

And should we deprecate properties for specific object (Gallica ID (P4258) and Museum of Brittany collections ID (P4313)) in collection in favor of this more general property?

I am very much in favor of this solution. The ARK identifier is a whole, it contains both the "ark:" label and the name assigning authority number (NAAN) in it. Plus, we would not need to create multiple ID poperties for every organization that uses ARK (even at BnF, there are several catalogs that we might want to link items to in the future, like BnF Archives et manuscrits, for example, that also uses ARKs but with a different prefix: https://archivesetmanuscrits.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/cc8647x. --Dipsode87 (talk) 11:30, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
