Motivation edit
Bibliotheca Hagiographica Latina is a catalogue of identifiers for Latin hagiographical works, originally published in the 19th century and updated on several occasions since then. Scholarly literature has referred to these identifiers for over a hundred years. Many of these works are in VIAF, but not all; and in some cases other authorities conflate works.
In their published form, there are no leading zeroes (e.g. publications refer to BHL 37, BHL 442c), but the online version requires four digits to resolve correctly (0037, 0442c); is there a way to have the formatter URL handle this? AndrewNJ (talk) 11:09, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
Addendum: it turns out there are two different ways for resolving these, either through the original BHL site (see e.g. BHL 6239) or the Brepols Clavis Clavium database (their version of BHL 6239). I am assuming that the latter is more desirable, since it does not require the leading zeroes. AndrewNJ (talk) 15:41, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

- @AndrewNJ: I tried to create this property but an automatic check failed: example value "8889" does not match regular expression
[\d+][a-z]* (up to four digits followed by two optional lowercase letters)
. Please fix your proposal and your property will be created shortly. This is an automated message but do not hesitate to ping me if you need any help. − Pintoch (talk) 09:51, 14 February 2020 (UTC) - removed the explanatory text in the format field. − Pintoch (talk) 10:15, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
