Motivation edit
The Clavis Historicorum Antiquitatis Posterioris (CHAP for short) is an authority control database for historiographical authors and their works of Late Antiquity created in 2018 and last updated in December 2022. According to the project website, it "inventorises all historiographical works of Late Antiquity (300 until 800 AD) in Latin, Greek, Syriac, Armenian, Georgian, Arabic, Coptic and, to a lesser extent, Hebrew, Aramaic and Persian. Names and titles in languages written in non-Latin alphabets have been included both in their original script and in transliteration" [1].
The CHAP author IDs, along with the work IDs, would make an excellent addition to Wikidata. They could be imported with the help of a mix-and-match catalogue. Jonathan Groß (talk) 19:32, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
