Motivation edit

Caselaw Access Project (Q58305678) is a programmatic way to access all published case law in the United States. "The Caselaw Access Project (“CAP”) expands public access to U.S. law. Our goal is to make all published U.S. court decisions freely available to the public online, in a consistent format, digitized from the collection of the Harvard Law Library." They have gone to the trouble of appropriately licensing data and pushing for open licenses whenever possible, offering programmatic access, and backing it with Harvard University resources. Along with cases themselves, there are also endpoints for citations, reporters, jurisdictions, courts, and volumes. See https://api.case.law/v1/ for more information.

Based on https://case.law/about/#usage we may be able to get access to the entire country's IDs, or maybe just Arkansas and Illinois. Either way this property is useful, since those two states alone offer a quarter-million cases. And the case.law folks expect that restrictions will end at latest in March of 2024, so we should continue to get more and more IDs. Runner1928 (talk) 19:47, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
