- Motivation
Useful, because it gives information about the players strenght. We already store FIDE elo ratings for chess players, this is for european go players. --Wesalius (talk) 09:34, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Comment: Might we be better off with a generic "rating" property, qualified with conferred by (P1027)? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:34, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
- I guess so, thank you for the idea. If nobody comes up with a better idea in couple of days I will retract my proposal and use your solution. --Wesalius (talk) 18:18, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
- At the moment, Elo rating (P1087) is used for chess players and for go players. I think it would be better if we would separate these issues (which is probably also the intention of this proposal). I think the easiest way is to create properties for each rating separately. So Property:P1087 would then only be used for FIDE ratings, and there would be additional properties for ICCF ratings, European Go ratings, and maybe some more ratings. Having only one rating property would probably make things unnecessary difficult and I think also chaotic. Also, conferred by (P1027) has as description "awards a prize to or bestows an honor", but a rating is neither prize nor honor, so this property would be unappropriate anyways. - Poor descriptions can be fixed. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:40, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
- Something has to happen here, because the status quo, mixing two completely different ratings for two different sports in one property just because they have a similar name, is not useful at all. Steak (talk) 19:12, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support per Steak's rationale. Mahir256 (talk) 16:42, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
