Motivation

The official BG place register by NSI, including some 5.5k places. There's a zip file with excels, updated regularly. This property can be populated as follows:

As discussed at bg:Уикипедия:Разговори#ЕКАТТЕ: EKATTE is currently stored in the infoboxes, and BG WP is ready to move them to WD with a bot.
Should be easy to match fully to WD/Geonames because there's a full place hierarchy; Ontotext and OpenCorporates plan to do that at the end of Mar 2017 as part of a BG Trade Register datathon.

Strictly speaking EKATTE is the settlement code (eg 68134), but the Oblast/Obshtina/Kmetstvo codes (eg SOF46-00) are also in the same dataset. Share your feedback whether it's smart to keep both Settlement and Kmetstvo (community/mayorate) codes in one property. Small settlements don't have their own Kmetstvo but only Settlement code. http://www.geonames.org/statistics/bulgaria.html shows that Geonames has complete data about BG Kmetstva (2.589 A.ADM3) and populated places (5.692 P.PPL). I bet that all of these are on WD too (if not, we'll add the missing ones). --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 20:03, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think "community=Kmetstvo, municipality=Obshtina, province=Oblast" is clear. Is the suggestion that all places in the database are in Kmetstvo? ChristianKl (talk) 08:23, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- @ChristianKl: The "equalities" above simply provide translations of these Bulgarian words. There are 5.5k places, but only 2.8k Kmetstvo: the tiniest places don't have a Kmetstvo of their own. Does that answer the question? --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 10:26, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

- Hi @Pigsonthewing:, what is not clear? If you don't like mixing two sorts of numbers in one prop, I can split it to EKATTE and "BG Community code".
