Motivation edit

A signifiant number of occurence of type specimens are available in GBIF, as showed in the examples above those occurences may contains a lot of useful various infos, and I guess that the links to those occurences are therefore useful too.

Another potential use is for the structured data of Wikimedia Commons. Exemple c:File:Hutchinsoniella macracantha (YPM IZ 003617.CR) 002.jpeg was uploaded from a dataset available in GBIF, and we can easily imagine the corresponding GBIF occurence being made available in the Structured Data for Commons Christian Ferrer (talk) 15:44, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion edit

@Succu: Good point, my proposal is ambigous. My goal is not to add the occurence IDs to taxa items but only to items that are instance of (P31) type specimen (Q51255340), and exceptions to constraints could be set if necessary in the future. •   Withdrawn not that I think it is not (can not be) useful, but in fact Wikidata is not yet focused on type specimen items and I am lacking of time as I have a lot of other stuff to do. therefore it is likely that this property will be not very used for now. Maybe in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 18:09, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
