- Oppose there seems to be a problem with the datatype (currently item) and the values (currently titles not identifiers). Merely using ISBN would probably do. --- Jura 10:34, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Jura1: Fixed the datatype. The title/author combination is the identifier. Lectrician1 (talk) 16:46, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

- I don't think it's much of an identifier. I suppose you could just use official website. --- Jura 12:23, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Jura1 This is meant to be used on literary works since the linked product page has options for multiple versions/ISBNs of the book. Also because it is on the work item, the work could possibly be published by 2 different publishers meaning there would be 2 official websites... Therefore, it makes sense just to leave it as an identifier. It having it's own property is also useful for querying and is a much stabler solution than qualifiers. - I still agree with my point of view ;) --- Jura 16:10, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Jura1 I think that the official website property should be reserved for the actual official website of a book. For example, the official website of A Time to Kill (Q1213715) is https://www.jgrisham.com/Books/a-time-to-kill/ .
- Even though this property value seems to be just to a link that includes the title and author, this is still very much an identifier. HarperCollins Publishing has thousands of books and creating a property for consistency just makes sense. This isn't just some random website that only has a few possible pages linked on Wikidata. It is a full database of books with a consistent linking scheme and unique IDs.
- In the future, we could even have this property recommended if a literary work item has a publisher: HarperCollins (Q95149) statement. Then people would be more likely to create a statement vs. somehow coming across it's usage of official website one day.
- A "HarperCollins variant ID" property for book variants that this current identifier redirects too could also be created. For example: 33007580708898. Lectrician1 (talk) 22:25, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
