- Comment. Aren't people in captivity or imprisonment given serial numbers all over the world? For example, Jean Valjean (Q1156620) (prisoner in novel Les Misérables) → 24601,or Elie Wiesel (Q18391) (Holocaust survivor) → A-7713. Why not a more universal property, that could be qualified by the authority that is controlling them?--Pharos (talk) 18:53, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
- I agree, or alternatively the number could be a qualifier on the internment event on the person. ArthurPSmith (talk) 19:31, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
- This might be a subproperty of serial number (P2598), not sure. Like that property it should actually be a string rather than a number, as alphanumerics are sometimes used. Generalizing this would make it a Wikidata property for a multi-source identifier (Q21264328).--Pharos (talk) 18:54, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

- If the property is supposed to focus on the US the property name should make that clear. ChristianKl (talk) 18:37, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
- Comment @GZWDer: Is it ok if I change this to a generic property for all imprisonment situations?--Pharos (talk) 19:56, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- This will become make the property a string, no longer an external identifier. Neutral waiting for more comments.--GZWDer (talk) 16:30, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
- I'd support this iff the name and/or description make it clear it only applies to those interned by the USA. Alternatively I'd support a generic property with an appropriate qualifier. | (talk) 22:03, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose Use catalog code (P528), with qualifier catalog (P972). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:38, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing, Pharos, GZWDer, ArthurPSmith:Not done, stale proposal without support and with one opposition. Use the solution that Pigsonthewing proposed. ChristianKl (talk) 12:20, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
